Have a feeling Norris will be here. They want all the top prospects to be involved in the race.

I think you're right. AA's version of adding pieces.

So we now have Stroman, Sanchez, Norris, Nolin and Graveman at or within 1 step of the majors with Hutchison on staff. Thats some nice young and controllable talent that we can use to free up money to spend elsewhere.

Graveman's the next Nestor Molina

There is a point if you have a cheaper alternative. Spend the money elsewhere to improve the team.

And you don't have to spend all the money, just spend some of it more efficiently.

dose of reality

if 2015 has a rotation including Hutch, Sanchez, Stroman, and Norris - get ready for a bit of ugliness

they will all have their struggles

Still good to have some young depth though. Nolin is in the same boat.

I agree.

I wish Alex would go back to moving these fringe guys for useful pieces. I guess those days of working hard to make smart trades are gone when now you can empty the farm for stable mediocrity.

A future rotation of Stroman, Norris, Hoffman, Sanchez, and Osuna/Smoral/Castro sounds pretty sweet.

Realistically, 3 of these guys will be average or better contributors.

I would so much rather watch that rotation than this year's

1-Sanchez

2-Hoffman

3-Norris

4-Stroman

5-Osuna/Hutchison

Hutchison should be at the bottom of the list in terms of stuff. Smoral's secondaries I believe rate higher than Castro's at present, even if his velocity is a slightly lower. That Chris guy from BP says he has a plus to plus-plus slider and a potential above average changeup.

Smoral has better pure stuff than Norris IMO. More devastating out pitch; more movement on his fastball.

At what level?

Norris f***ed A, +A and AA with his devastating stuff.

Stroman, Hutch, Sanchez, Norris all starting next year. Fap fap fap

We should honestly trade Joey B and Edwin for a couple massive hauls and try and offload Mark B as well and just rebuild this mother f***er properly.....

Trading Buehrle midseason could have gotten a top prospect but now you're just trading for salary relief. No point, keep him to eat innings

What are you even thinking? If you were a GM would you have traded a top prospect for Buehrle midseason? NO. Neither would anyone else. There are legitimate questions about our front offices performance over the last year and half. But my gawd it is no wonder some of you will never be satisfied if you think GMs are going to give a top prospect for Buehrle.

Been calling for this for awhile.

Have you personally seen enough of their fastballs and out pitches to say that?

It's unfortunate that our best young position player will never stay healthy. Basically starting from scratch apart from pitching. If we could get rid of Buehrle's salary and just replace that salary with offensive players it would help.

Going off of what is being reported. Norris throws fairly hard for a LHP, but his fastball has average life. Smoral has been described as having nasty natural cutting action on his fastball, and I believe his slider has the upside to be better than any secondary pitch that Norris throws.

You said it was your opinion though! I don't think anyone's able to say with any confidence that Smoral's fastball has more movement than Norris'. Smoral's only made 10 pro starts and I doubt more than a couple dozen people have see multiple outings of both.

Also, they have similar strikeout numbers this year but with Norris pitching in the upper minors and Smoral the Appy League. I think the excitement around Smoral is amplified greatly by the fact that we don't know much about him.

I'll take the under.

I think you expect Stroman and one of Norris/Sanchez to pan out. Then I'd say 55% chance Hoffman turns into something, 40% Osuna, 20% Castro and 15% for Smoral.

Those percentages are all way too high if we're talking about them becoming average major league starters.

Norris could be a nice fit for our pen if we do indeed make a playoff run (2nd wildcard, plus win).

I badly wanted us to trade for some bullpen help, but Sanchez and Norris could end up being the help that we need. A bit of a risk, but how fun would it be to go deep into the playoffs with Sanchez and Norris as top 7th/8th inning guys before Janssen? Assuming they succeeded of course.

That was making a contribution at the Major league level. You would have to knock it down further if you are expecting a major league starter. What are the odds that a top 100 pitching prospect makes an impact in the MLB? I know theres been a few studies on it.
