HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 can't wait to see what they come out with for the September hazing
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I feel like because of this the front office is going to be less inclined to trade Buehrle in the offseason. I think he is a great sell high and getting his contract off the books frees up a lot of cash that can help address other needs.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 it's chump change for a guy making Buehrle's money. nice gesture though Which is why it's really f***ing stupid how it's customary in the MLB for the rookie to pay for everyone's meals when they go out. Or they may even go with credit card roulette and the rookie lucks out. Dirk wrote about it, I must wonder if he was forced to partake in that http://deadspin.com/a-major-league-pitchers-guide-to-baseballs-********-unw-1585433770 If I were the highest paid player of the team I would pay for everyone. Let's say on average the highest paid player on a team earns 10 million a year. After taxes, that's what, 7 million? Let's say 25 guys go out on a dinner at a relatively expensive restaurant, like Chris Ruth's. A total meal could cost about $300. $300 x 25 is only 7500. Now I don't think players go out to eat 365 days a year, but let's say about 15 times. That's only 100,000 a year, or less than 2% of your salary. And this assuming that the highest paid player pays for everyone. Realistically, you would have different vets pay for meals, and not the whole 25 players would be going out to eat.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 If I ever win a big lottery I promise to get all active board members fitted for suits .. or hire a hitman to knock off metalijay. (debatable which one members would appreciate more)
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Eh, I think the answer to that is pretty obvious.

You actually feel the FO is going to give a s*** about him buying a few suits in terms of dealing him if the value is there or there's an option to dump his salary? They're dumb, but they're not that dumb. Even most of this board could get that one right.
Statman Verified Member Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 For Buehrle it's equivalent to the average Canadian going out and buying a double double and an, egg, sausage breakfast sandwich for a buddy.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Looks about right. Usually he looks a bit more babyish in the face tho
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Yep I was actually looking for a kids suit store and came up with that image.

Lol it wasn't about him buying suits..More the vetrin presents that he provides with all the kids and the stability. I wonder what the return you could expect for MB? You might be able to play off that he will get a QO which would make his value even higher.
