jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Multiple roster moves to announce: Shi Davidi @ShiDavidi 12m #BlueJays option Erik Kratz. Ben Nicholson-Smith @bnicholsonsmith As expected, #BlueJays will DFA Brad Mills today per source. The move will create roster space for Aaron Sanchez. -------------------------------------------------- Tolleson to pat leave, Goins recalled. Esmil Rogers will be purchased as well.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Sooo we pretty much DFA'd Deck McGuire for what?
CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Poor Kratz. So ends the 2014 Brad Mills era. Looking forward to the 2016 Brad Mills era.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 More roster moves per Davidi Mills DFA (good) Kratz optioned to Buffalo (dumb) I know people like Kratz, but outside of his D, he has done little to deserve a roster spot (.198/.226/.346) That spot would be better used on another infielder or an acquisition..
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Kratz is fine and if it were up to me I'd keep him up on the team but I also don't think sending him to AAA warrants the outrage that so many on this board seem to feel.
ColdPint Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Are the number of roster transactions tracked, by team? I'm interested in seeing how the Jays stack up to the rest of the league. It seems like there's so much more juggling of roster spots than ever before and where has it gotten us? Replacement player after replacement player. Roster and "asset management", AAs supposed strength, has resulted in very litle positive. He's just shuffling inconsequential pieces.

I'd be interested in this as well. It seems like there's so much more juggling of roster spots than ever before and where has it gotten us? Well, Tolleson as a UT guy who can hit lefties and Francisco as a 1B/3B/DH who can hit righties look like two decent bench players who could contribute the next couple of years or so.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Anyone understand the rationale for Goins? I may not agree with Sanchez but I could see why AA might think he can help as a releiver but what's the point of Goins? He's not an improvement over Kawa. Is he going to play 2B and push Kawa to third against righties? Spell Reyes? maybe the whole reyes injury rumor is more than we thought? maybe he needs to miss a couple games to heal up?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 maybe the whole reyes injury rumor is more than we thought? maybe he needs to miss a couple games to heal up? It's just a paternity leave for Tolleson. It's even in the thread title now.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Bautista on FAN 590 complaining something about the fans. Anyone catch his point??

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Official. Sanchez, Rogers, Goins up. Mastroianni & Kratz optioned. Brad Mills designated for assignment. #Bluejays

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 OK, now Bautista saying he believes in the organization and that they're making "all the right moves" including today's. Anyone believe he really thinks that? LOL

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Bautista on FAN 590 complaining something about the fans. Anyone catch his point?? He said it doesn't help the players out that fans boo if things dont go well in the 1st inning. Says fan support gives players more energy on the field.

LOL Well, it is the right move to jettison someone like Mills who never should have been handed a roster spot to begin with along with doing something with Santos blowing up when he comes in.

After 21 years and counting of no playoffs, the players should just shut up and be thankful that anyone even still pays to watch them choke and lose. And Bautista's excuses just get more and more pathetic.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Bautista's complaint is not really all that different from "Winfield wants noise" but a HOF on a winning team can not only get away with stuff like that but have it embraced.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Well, I don't like Sanchez coming up now (did he even get into a game as a reliever yet?). I understand the thinking though, in terms of wanting to see if he can fill the role before having no choice but to trade for someone. I don't think this has anything to do with showcasing him.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Blue Jays-Official @BlueJays 13m Tonight's @BlueJays lineup: Reyes-SS Cabrera-LF Bautista-RF Navarro-C Rasmus-DH Francisco-1B Kawasaki-3B Goins-2B Gose-CF Saki at 3rd.. before anyone says anything, Kawasaki has 3B experience with Seattle and AAA Buffalo, and played some 3B in spring training. Anything to get Johnson a day off.. surprisingly, this is our best defensive lineup sans Lawrie.

Otherwise not that bad for what you have to work with giving Rasmus the day off the field.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Because its the players fault the franchise was terrible 18 years before they were here? It's the current team's fault that they suck now. The other 18 years just factor in to the fans' frustration.
