ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Hope you are not referring to my last post, because I called them done for a month ago. Things have changed however, and this lacklustre division is allowing lacklustre teams back in the mix. Wasn't referring to you. We'll see what happens.

If by some stroke of divine intervention the Rays steal the division by boner would never subside.

The jays offense is struggling real bad and hurt but they're still 2x as good as the rays. The best offense will win this division. Between the birds, no sea creatures

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 The Rays that are 11 games under .500 can be "back in this thing in a week", but the Jays are done for the season http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 If the Rayspists hang on to win tonight, they're 9 back of the first place Orioles for the division lead, and 9.5 back of the M's (if they also lose tonight) for the 2nd wildcard spot. If the Rayspists win going forward at a rate of the best team (so far) in the majors - the A's - they'll end up with 88 wins. Now, in this down year for the AL East, and the year of league parity, that could be enough to get a playoff spot ... But then again, it may not. So realistically, they need to bet on being the best team in the league going forward to have a marginal shot at the playoffs. The Sox and Rayspists should really be looking toward next year at this point. I said this partially tongue-in-cheek as I don't believe the Rays are talented enough to make up this kind of hole...but I still think they will win more games than the rest of the division the rest of the way. They were 15 games back 4 weeks ago...9 now. If they make up 6 games in the next four weeks Jays fans around here will be s***ing. I might throw $5 at the 28-1 on them to win the East just so I could use it as my avatar if the Rays ever came back.
