jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 As someone who works in records management and administration, someone did not do a good job keeping all this trade information confidential if Deadspin was able to obtain this. What a terrible organization Houston is..
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Man I really don't get why he wanted to give up Stroman but not Sanchez. Yeah Stroman doesn't have the stuff that Sanchez has but that doesn't mean he's a s***** pitcher. Stroman really doesn't have anything going against him Sanchez big achilles is his control. If anything, it would have been Stroman that was untouchable Nothing there indicates to me that Stroman was about to be dealt. All I get from this is AA, and other GMs for that matter, asking what type of package the Astros were looking for. They all probably ended up having a conference call to laugh about the asking price. At the end of the day, I can't remember what the Astros got for Norris from the O's, but I'd bet it wasn't a better prospect than Stroman so this tells you Stroman wasn't seriously considered.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Luhnow sure does love his wise offers.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Wow... how did all that leaak? Someone break into Luhnow's computer? If their "database" is as cutting edge as they claim, but with poor security, it could be just about anyone in their organization who is on their network. Not sure where the excerpts in the Deadspin link are coming from. They read almost like they could have been compiled in Notepad.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Stroman + for Norris. This is the kind of guy you just start ignoring in fantasy leagues
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Josh Hader, LJ Hoes and a draft pick. Not a bad haul but certainly not what they were asking for. The draft pick ended up being Derek Fisher. Hader, Hoes and Fisher is a much better package than Glasnow or Hanson imo.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If real, I wouldn't even respond to these idiots in a yahoo league.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If real, I wouldn't even respond to these idiots in a yahoo league. Yet you're my co-manager.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 lol...I never. Shutauup and send me a real offer
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Josh Hader, LJ Hoes and a draft pick. Not a bad haul but certainly not what they were asking for. To be honest, I really have no problem with them asking for the moon, had they asked for less, they may have ended up with less. I also have no problem with AA asking them what kind of package it would take, even if it involved Stroman. It doesn't really mean a trade was near. From what I get, AA kindly told him to f*** off and discussions ended soon thereafter.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Yet you're my co-manager. BBDL > Luhnow
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 This is gold! Jeff Luhnow is that guy in your fantasy league lol. "[Nationals GM Mike] Rizzo called [Luhnow] to inquire on Harrell. JL told him we would still need a headliner like Giolito because we still value Harrell highly. Rizzo did not respond immediately." Jeff Luhnow asked for LUCAS GIOLITO in return for Harrell. Like WTF. I wonder if all teams have sky-high asking prices initially. It didn't work in this case on Norris though, they should have accepted a Pittsburgh offer. Also, I love how AA uses his "balls in the air" phrase in negotiations as well as with the media.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Now can someone hack into Dombrowski and Rizzo's computers to see wtf was going during negotiations for Doug Fister?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I hope the Best doesn't have a password like Beest lol. At least we don't have to worry about someone hacking Beeston's actual computer. I'm actually kind of surprised this sort of thing hasn't happened more.

Beeston doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would use a computer
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 "10/18/2014","TOR reached out on Jason Catro. They said their No. 1 priority this off season is to upgrade over Arrencibia. They want to get a sense for what the price would be on Castro." Nice! So all that hogwash from AA about how the offseason was all about pitching and they were fine with Arencibia was just for the media. They really were desperate to upgrade at catcher.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Their system is probably on the cloud and someone found a link and got lucky on the password.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 it's a little more complicated than that flafson lol

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Lol it certainly wasn't a laughable offer
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Wow I wonder who's the Julian Assange of MLB leaks?

BTW how do you embed twitter links? Naturally there is going to be a lot of denials but the Astro,s are admitting this leak so suck it up Jennings. Hugely embarrassing to the Astro,s. Wish we could read the discussions about the trade that brought Happ
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Will GM,s be afraid of discussing deals in detail with the Astro,s now for fear of it getting out.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Will GM,s be afraid of discussing deals in detail with the Astro,s now for fear of it getting out. Somebody's getting fired over this I assume.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 edit: wrogn thread Did he just f***ing say "total beauty?"
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Probably the opposite. With the shame brought on them, the Astros will probably implement the strictest security measures in the league going forward, and they'll be sure to let everyone know about it. And if there is a freeze out of sorts, as a rival GM, I'd be looking to poach their organization and see if I couldn't finagle a better deal (guilt or just lack of to a market may equal value). It'll probably be a combination. Some GM's will probably blacklist them over it, and some will sniff blood in the water.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I don't think this will change anything. GMs have too much at stake to not consider a potential trade partner.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I don't think this will change anything. GMs have too much at stake to not consider a potential trade partner. GM's tend to have big egos, and some of them seem to have questionable intelligence. There will almost certainly be a few who will blacklist them regardless of the stakes. They'll find some excuse.
