Spoonovic Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Why the f*** is Bautista doing this again? Hes done it twice before. And surely hes going to pick EE on his team. f***! Home Run Derbys ruin swings.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 No they don't. Jose Bautista participated in a home run derby in spring training at a local event. Didn't seem to effect the start of his season.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Surely you don't really believe that crap.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 His team is going to be: 1) Himself 2) EE 3) Juan Francisco 4) Melky 5) Reyes

Didn't seem to effect the start of his season. Well in 2012, Bautista only played 17 games after the home run derby. He had brutal numbers for those 17 games and then proceeded to mess up his wrist and miss the rest of the year.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 His team is going to be: 1) Himself 2) EE 3) Juan Francisco 4) Melky 5) Reyes Being in Minnesota he'll be under pressure to pick someone from The twins. But who do you pick? Mauer can't hit the out anymore. Dozier? Willingham? Calling Jose, Edwin, Papi, Cruz and Minnesota token.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Papi and Edwin are givens. I'd like to see Trout. Willingham is the only Twins option, I dunno if he'd go there. Bautista - EE - Ortiz are locks, probably. Cruz/Cespedes/Abreu How many players are there per league? http://tinyurl.com/nj6us35

Just a coincidence

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Non-allstars can't be picked right?
labadee Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Why the f*** is Bautista doing this again? Hes done it twice before. And surely hes going to pick EE on his team. f***! Home Run Derbys ruin swings. You can't seriously believe that crap
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Bautista - EE - Papi - Jeter Barf. He might not even make it past the guy throwing BP.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Non-allstars can't be picked right? They can.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Imagine if he picked Kawasaki. That would be just about the best thing ever.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Imagine if he picked Kawasaki. That would be just about the best thing ever. What if Tulo picked Bartolo Colon? Lol's would ensue.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 What if Tulo picked Bartolo Colon? Lol's would ensue. It would be much more interesting than a regular hr derby... actually, pretty much anything is more interesting.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Bautista - EE - Ortiz are locks, probably. Cruz/Cespedes/Abreu How many players are there per league? I'm sure Cespedes being the reigning champion has to be a lock barring injury. I wish all of those choices could be in there.
43211234 Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Is it 5 per league? Bautista, EE, Cruz, Abreu, Cespedes seems obvious.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 What if Tulo picked Bartolo Colon? Lol's would ensue. That's a career/possible life ender right there.
Convo Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Bautista - EE - Ortiz are locks, probably. Cruz/Cespedes/Abreu How many players are there per league? Neg. Ortiz doesn't want to do the Derby anymore (since like 2-3 years ago)... "too draining"
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Is it 5 per league? Bautista, EE, Cruz, Abreu, Cespedes seems obvious. But he's also best buds with Ortiz Edit: Didn't realize he'd sworn off of them
labadee Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 His team is going to be: 1) Himself 2) EE 3) Juan Francisco 4) Melky 5) Reyes Juan would somehow still manage to strike out lol
Candy Maldonado Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Edwin wont be participating so at least we wont lose both power hitters.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Bautista, Cruz, Abreu, Cespedes and Willingham is my guess
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Papi and Edwin are givens. I'd like to see Trout. Willingham is the only Twins option, I dunno if he'd go there. There's no reason that he has to pick a Twin. Cano didn't take Butler, and yeah he got booed but who cares? There's so many amazing power hitters right now. I assume Jose, Edwin and Papi are the first three; I feel like he'll probably take one of Cruz, Cano, Cespedes or Abreu, and I bet he probably thinks he has to pick at least one white guy to put the xenophobes at ease. On that front though, there's a good chance that it won't be Trout. Even if Joey invites him, he's probably going to turn it down: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140527&content_id=77063186¬ebook_id=77079788&c_id=ana
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Yep, Bautista wants Abreu to be one of the guys. Abreu might turn it down as well though, lots of guys seem to think the wear and tear of all those swings is not worth the risk. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140626&content_id=81772840¬ebook_id=81789480&vkey=notebook_cws&c_id=cws

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Its time to to get rid of the derby. It was cool when I was kid it just doesn't do anything for me anymore. All the top players prefer to watch over participating. You do realize that kids are a renewable resource.
