wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Half of fans of any origination are fair weather fans. Who cares.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 What in the world does it matter if he voiced his complaint unsolicited, or in response to an indirect question, or a direct one? The answer is that it doesn't matter at all. If you're not a child ... or if you're chronologically an "adult" and not a complete douche ... you reply in the general manner that I suggested. You don't respond to a question about doubters ... people who are potential fans, or are disenfranchised fans ... you know, the people who potentially pay your salary ... by telling them to go watch another team if they don't like it. Many players ... mature adults ... professionals who respect the game, have handled similar questions in a manner befitting my expectation. Can you imagine Halladay responding like this? Of course not. Instead, Bautista was a child. But it's status quo. If your haven't noticed by now pro athletes basically aren't adults by any reasonable measure. They live an incredibly sheltered lives and are are for the most part huge douches. Some are worse than others. A rare few actually seem like decent human beings. Bautista is unremarkable in this respect.
Convo Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I haven't noticed that. Even over 3+ decades of participating in, and following, sports, and knowing a number of professional athletes personally. I mean, they're overall not as intelligent, nor as mature as their "real world" counterparts, and some still carry over the athletic machismo you have in high school ... but generally they're reasonable human beings who can function as you'd expect a reasonable blue-collar person to function. When called upon, they can even address the press in a way that isn't rude or offensive to the folks who potentially would support their sport or their team. And some of them can even refrain from acting like they just got their favorite blankey taken from them before bedtime, when the umpire makes a call they don't agree with. Bautista is remarkable in this respect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paragraph

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 What ever happened to ******** condescending lawyer Moogy? Moogy, what a guy... one of a kind. I always thought it was Stoeten trolling the board. Moogy had a knack for producing pages and pages, of mean spirited bull s*** that was grammatically perfect, so I have to think he had a writing background. Lawyer might fit too... he could type fast, grammar was good, content full of s***... Writer or Lawyer I guess.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 There is even the slightest resemblance between Stoeten's and Moogy's respective writing styles. Speaking of Stoeten I just looked him up... I used to love 'DrunkJaysFans' it was great... but after Stoeten went to the score it fell apart. He is at 'Blue Jays Nation', is that his own place, or did he latch on to something else? Seemed Stoeten cared more about impressing his bosses, then showing any empathy for his audience. I believe he called 'insufferable sour pusses' I think that was the end for him... kind of like the 47% comment was the end for Romney, and if Clinton loses the 'Deplorables" comment will be a part of it. Why diss your audience? What is the point? Good writers are like good salesman, they make the audience feel good about them selves. f all he had to say was 'I understand the frustration. I understand the concern. I understand the panic. It may work out, it may not, but if it works out here is the road to success.' If Stoeten had shown any empathy for his audience he would of been a success, appears now he has like 10 comments on his game threads."

TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Are there no active mods here or something? Half the members seem to be obvious trolls and mostly post reactionary nonsense meant to stir up drama. I see user names like "Tholesweirdeye", SweetSmellingChacin, Kevin Gregg ETC. It's all obviously people trying to disrupt the community. And I've read lots of nonsense about several posters who are known trolls and they still freely degenerate the conversation. There's some really solid baseball savvy people here but it's hard to navigate around all of the trolls. What's the deal with that? Just 1 mans 2 cents.

I just find it unlikely that a true Jays fan would sign up here and when deciding to come up with a username decides on KevinGregg. There can't certainly be a Jays fan who's ever been a legitimate fan of that guy can there?
