vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 make me mod, I'll ban first, ask questions later This is the way to go.
NLJays Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 From what I've seen so far, European fans in general are pretty loyal to their teams and are often among the better posters when they do join up to American forums. That's nice. I never thought of making the claim that Europeans are more loyal fans, much less better posters, but hey we'll take it I guess. Like 1878NHLYR I became a Jays fan after visiting Canada, though my visit to Toronto was way back in 2001. I took a while to learn the nuances of the game, so 1878NHLYR, if you've got any questions I'd be happy to help teach you (dunno if a European perspective is of any help).
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Regardless of that, there's a non-pathetic way to go about trying to become a mod on an innernette board, repeatedly spamming threads with novel-length posts about how he'd run the place if given the chance isn't it. Well, at least you can admit the stunted capacity of your intellect.

That's at least my biased perspective based on what I've seen on other forums. Europeans that follow American sports often have to stay up long past midnight just to watch the games. The guys that stick around end up pretty dedicated fans. Europeans don't often have the severe inferiority complex that the fans of Toronto-based teams generally have, since they aren't as familiar with that feeling of seeing no real success in sports for two decades; which usually makes them more objective and easier to talk to, as well.
NLJays Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Well I guess that makes some sense. I rarely stay up to watch the games though, because I usually regret it when I do. I get too emotionally invested easily. And MLB's condensed games are a really nice way of watching most of the action the next morning. I also don't have to hear Buck and Pat say stupid stuff. Once a month is probably my limit for commentators as stupid as Buck and Pat.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 What alias is BTS posting under now? Posters like him don't often just disappear, he could fit into one of mj's aliases pretty easily I'd say.

TBJ12 Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Haven't seen much from him since the Rays collapse.
aselvana Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 damn, why do i consistently miss all the fun!!
mitchf Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 It's not like the old board disappeared, lol. You can go back there at any point. No no no, that's crazy.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I second that. Also, King needs some votes too I think we'll need Silvergun's input on that before making any hasty decisions.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Anyone else actually miss the old board? I find it less enticing to read around on here. I did. Go back to it though to see, it's beyond terrible. That sempai guys spams the board with rubbish while djblueray and a couple others chime in. Then you have your zee/dogg accounts taking up a good majority of the other posts

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 make me mod, I'll ban first, ask questions later I should be a mod; I hate everyone equally. I should be a mod, I'll ban BTS. I should not be a mod. I rarely wear pants, and that's just not professional.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I'm definitely new. I doubt even one of these alleged multi account lunatics you have would have moved across the Atlantic to hide their identity. Visited Toronto in May (great city by the way) and took in a Blue Jays game (v Tampa) and enjoyed it 50 times more than I thought I would. I've been to a lot of American sports events over the years and enjoyed most of them but I've just felt strangely drawn back to the Jays since I got home. Found myself looking for streams to watch the games whenever I can and checking results the following morning when I can't. I got up at 2am for a pee last night and before I knew it I was logging online to see how the game was going. I have travelled quite a lot throughout the years and I'm not one of these cranks that has multiple teams that they claim to follow, other than my local football (soccer) team the Blue Jays are the 1st I've felt some kind of attachment to, no idea why. The problem I have forum wise is that I have no f***ing idea what most of the threads are about. I thought I understood the game when I was there (with the help of my son) but then when you get to talking about the nuances of the game I'm lost and so I can't really add much. Hopefully I'll learn as I go along. Should be back over for a few games this year and finances allowing I plan on getting over at least once a season in future. Funnily enough I despise the way my local team (United) have become some kind of international freak show with tourists from all over the world turning up every week and taking tickets away from local people. I suppose that makes me a hypocrite but as I understand it it's the Yankees that bandwagon jumpers head to so hopefully I wont dilute the hardcore support too much. curious...you cheer for city or man u....I'm all for the underdog..go baggies..
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 It's right there in his post...Man U yeah...missed the united at the end of the post....you're always on top of things spankster
JaysRap Verified Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I joined the old board in 2009 I believe and only had ~500 posts there from that time until the revolution. I lurked daily though. Co-signed.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 If reporting people counts as posts, I had many.. or few.
