TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Jose Reyes and Josh Thole feel bad for David Wright and New York Mets fans June 16th, 2014 2:11 pm Blue Jays SS Jose Reyes and C Josh Thole say they feel bad for David Wright, who continues to struggle through a rebuilding process in Queens, they told columnist Anthony Reiber this past weekend (Newsday, June 15). “I was there from 2009 through 2012, and it was ‘wait till next year, wait till next year,’” said Thole. “The hardest thing in the baseball world, in my opinion, is to play in New York for the Mets. Everything is a story there.” Reyes, Thole and the Blue Jays are 40-30 and in first place in the American League East. “After a little while, you just want to win,” Reyes said. “It’s not about the money, because we are already set. We've got a contract and it’s now about winning. We’re not getting any younger, you know? What is he, 31? I’m 31. I want to win.” Maybe this isn't thread worthy. Whatever; slow news day. Still, it's weird being other end of the "they're finally on a winning organization" discussion. The saddest part is that I found this article on a Mets discussion forum. Must feel like a kick to the nuts. One of the comments: "When JOSH THOLE is happy he left your team you got troubles. JOSH THOLE feels bad for the Mets. WORST owners in sports. I envy Clippers fans. Someone please follow Wilpon around with a recorder going. We need to get him on tape saying something racist." http://i.imgur.com/py2PxcN.gif

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Soooo..... Trade for Wright?? 107 million $ for his age 32-37 seasons + would cost Sanchez, Norris, and a third Norrisy piece. The player is Wright but the price is Rong...... bitch?
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Poor David Wright. Get's paid millions and millions of dollars to play a game on a losing team. Everyone should feel terrible for this guy.

We haven't won in a really long time either guys.

Poor poor Iggy and his $8mm per. At some point the franchise player is supposed to help make the team win aren't they?

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I thought it was odd that the Mets extended Wright in the same off-season were they traded their #1 pitcher (Dickey) and started their rebuild. That being said if Wright wanted to win so badly, he could have hit free agency and signed with a contender. At worst, he might have left some money on the table doing that but it's not like he would have had to play for free either. Contenders, TB excepted, usually aren't broke. It was more important for him to stay with one team and I respect that but I'm not going to feel bad for something that was entirely his own decision. And I absolutely agree that Thole and Reyes should maybe win something before they feel bad for anybody.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Wright for Aaron Sanchez++ Would be sad to see Sanchez and Syndergaard reunited on another team. But yeah I'd do it. What an infield.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Wright for Aaron Sanchez++ Can you imagine? Reyes ss Melky LF Bautista RF Lind DH Eddy 1B Wright 3B Lawrie 2B Navarro C Rasmus CF

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I'd rather have Adrian beltre Me too due to length of contract
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 How could you put the shortcomings of an entire franchise on one player? Smh I didn't. I said "help" and that doesn't mean on their own. They had a lot of talent. He and Kipper and a few others weren't able to put them over the top or even close after 04 run. IMO he bares some responsibility for that as C - and highest paid player. I don't think Im alone in that view.

fireballW Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Beltre and Utley are both better fits than Wright. He's in the midst of his worst year, is 31 years old and have a very expensive contract. I would not give up even a decent prospect to get Wright, since I think his contract will have negative value.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Why would Captain America want to play in Canada... To unite with superman..... Duh....
