Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 What would Jason Hammel command??? I honestly wouldn't even deal with the cubs they just want you to overpay for everything.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I honestly wouldn't even deal with the cubs they just want you to overpay for everything. Anyone trading away a SP these days wants people to overpay (well, except for the Tigers it would seem. They'll apparently trade a #2 starter for whatever you have lying around)

I am in the Ian Kennedy boat but i don't think he would come tooo cheap either but Towers has made some Derp moves is his career so you never know.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 How about Gavin Floyd? Braves apparently willing to move him, and from what I remember he has pretty good numbers against the AL East.

RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 No way do I give up both Sanchez and Norris. Let them pick one, plus Nolin, and DJ Davis. I think that package should be able to get us a good quality starter.

I would to if I was them I am just saying I would deal with other teams. There are a lot of guys out there.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Although every now and then there is a trade that makes you wonder "you only gave that much?" The one I can recall is the Indians-Phillies trade for Lee.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Honestly, unless if AA is going to extend a trade target, I would rather keep our young arms. We could have Hutch, Stroman, Nolin, Sanchez, and Norris all in the rotation mix come next season. Once Dickey and Buehrle are gone, we could have a really cheap and effective rotation.
felinefriendly Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Doubt Jays will get anybody, just like how they failed miserably at acquiring Darvish. Prove me wrong AA
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 They wouldn't accept that. They would get a better offer from a different team. Are we talking the Cubs and Shark specifically? Perhaps. But then I'd look to other options. Let them pick one of Sanchez/Norris, and then let them pick any 3 prospect names (roster, Pompey, and 2014 draftees not included). If that's not enough, you move on.

Ignore Shark Ignore Price. Don't We could build a cheap rotation out of Stro, Hutch, Norris and Sanchez(hoping he cuts down the walks). Not so high on Nolin. That is how the Cardinals are contenders year after year. We have a good chance to make the playoffs with the team we have right now. I don't see selling 2 top pitching prospects as a make or break for the season.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Pompey might be a good sell high. Yes but if you do that you have to believe in gose
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Sanchez will probably be part of any deal. Logic dictates that's why they promoted him. They're hoping he spins off a few gems to up his value. If Sanchez is a part of any deal it better be for one of the better SP's being named and not one of the weaker SP's like Hammel or Kennedy. And even then, if we're talking a premier SP, we're talking a couple to a few more prospects being tacked on to Sanchez. This all-in push is stupid.

AA is in first place and accordion to his own statements, more players are available then they thought. I think it's only a matter of time before AA does something stupid.

He struck out on Dickey as an Ace so now that the team is where it is, they'll throw more resources at the starting rotation, you can bet on it.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Why not? We'll take him for 1.5 years then QO and draft pick. Maybe Alex want to extend Shark (ALA Dickey) before give 2 or 3 good prospects.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Maybe Alex want to extend Shark (ALA Dickey) before give 2 or 3 good prospects. Make the deal, hope we make the playoffs and have a great showing, then see if Shark likes it here/wants to stay. Sign an extension or trade him before next season if it will return more than QO/pick
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Maybe Alex want to extend Shark (ALA Dickey) before give 2 or 3 good prospects. At this point I think probably he would prefer to trade less away and just get the 1.5 years. Save more of the farm. Given all GM's now know how much money he wants, maybe the offers are less for trade.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 I don't understand the purpose of scouting a single start...or even a few starts.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 Ya, no thank you to Shark. He just rejected a 5yr85m deal, he's not worth 17m+, good luck to whichever team overpays to get him. Why didn't this team just spend the money on Darvish or Tanaka.
