FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 So now that we've had this year's Wakefield game - courtesy of those two terrible panic trades (Reyes/Dickey) - can AA finally be fired after the inevitable 85 wins and no playoffs?

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Which game again? You were probably like 10 when that happened. It was the game that destroyed our great start a few years ago. We lost like 9 in a row after.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Which game again? http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BOS/BOS200905190.shtml IIRC, we were leading the division at the time, and that game started a 9-game losing streak. In typical Jays fashion, we ended up finishing under .500 and not making the playoffs.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 The big key is if they win tomorrow all will be forgotten and they can move on. I was really pissed but have calmed down some in the last 10 min. It is what it is.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 It's really not the loss as much as IT'S HOW THEY f***ING LOST.

StevieRay Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 well, you know the longer the winning streak was gonna carry on, the deeper of a depression team/fans will fall in when it is over. Just trying to be positive here. But it sux the streak has to end in this fashion. Much prefer if they were blown out by 10 runs.

In typical Jays fashion, we ended up finishing under .500 and not making the playoffs. That 2009 team should never have been in 1st place. It was basically just Roy Halladay and a bunch of kids and non-prospects, and Brian Tallet in the rotation. We had such names like Ricky Romero, Scott Richmond, Mark Rzepczynski, Robbie Ray, David Purcey, Brad Mills and Brian Burres in that rotation. That was awful! And don't get me started on the mess on the roster back then.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I could understand a blowout loss Or a bullpen implosion in the 8th inning or the team going 0-15 with RISP But I absolutely cannot stomach a loss on the last play to win the game. I cannot stomach a loss for a game that had so many exciting parts to it And I definitely cannot stomach this type of game ending our streak. I'm f***ing pissed at Reyes, and I will be for a few hours. Give it a nights rest and I'm sure it'll all by fine again, unless we lose this series.

I get the hatred towards Reyes... the 27th out is the bitch of the night but the TSN turning point was Cabrera getting picked off and our insurance run removed.
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 It's the combination of losing when we all but won, and ending the streak, all against a s***** team. And I'm scared of what happens next ARGGGGGHHHH

I don't mind the Cabrera pick off. His foot wasn't even on the grass - Shields was just that good. However, I'm pissed off that Gose didn't adjust after 2 close pick offs and then getting it done on the 3rd. Or I guess that's Tim Leper's fault. He should have reminded these guys to be careful cause Shields is quick.

He should have gotten back.
