Jays: Buehrle came within one out of a shutout April 2 in Tampa Bay, giving up four hits and one walk while striking out a season-high 11. He hasn't slipped up much since, and is seeking to win a season-high fifth consecutive decision. Buehrle gave up two runs for the third straight outing Thursday - this time over seven innings - in a 7-2 victory at Boston. After going deep only twice in April, Edwin Encarnacion has smacked 13 home runs in May, marking the second-most home runs hit by a Toronto player in a single month in franchise history. Jose Bautista owns the franchise record after he homered 14 times in June 2012. Bautista hit his first 13 homers during that historic month in 105 plate appearances. Encarnacion hit home run No. 13 in his 107th plate appearance of May. This year is the only the fourth in the past 30 that the AL East did not have a team with a winning percentage of at least .570 on the morning of Memorial Day. Toronto entered the day in first place with a .569 winning percentage, but ended the day at .577. Rays: Cobb, who has not allowed a run in his last 21.2 innings. In his first start back from a strained left oblique, the right-hander gave up three hits and two walks in 6.2 innings Thursday against Oakland. Cobb did not get a decision in his return from a six-week stint on the disabled list because the Rays once again provided him with no run support in a 5-2, 11-inning victory. He's been backed by one run in four starts this season. Cobb has made three straight scoreless starts to tie a franchise record, but his streak is the Rays' first within a single season, as Matt Moore accomplished the feat in his final start of 2012 and his first two of 2013. Cobb's 21.2 consecutive shutout innings mark the third-longest streak in franchise history. James Shields set the record with 23 straight in 2011, and Moore logged 22.1 during his stretch of three straight scoreless starts. Tampa Bay's win Sunday was manager Joe Maddon's 700th with the club. jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Looks like another win for the Jays coming. Rays lineup looks pathetic, especially with Hanigan and Zobrist out, along with Guyer. Multiple below-average hitters in today's lineup.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Cy Buehrle on the mound today no need to worry lol

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I love how our line-up doesn't have back-to-back lefties or righties.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 But look who's leading off for them ;D Yunel Escobar? Give me a break...his leadoff #s were OK.. back when he was with the Blue Jays. He's a far cry from that now. And why are Sean Rodriguez and Logan Forsythe even on this team?
Caper Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 really love the lineup against lhp. rhp?

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I don't like our chances against Alex Cobb to be honest, he's the real deal. We have the best offense in baseball. No pitcher is enough to "not like our chances!" EE or Bautista can go deep against anyone, Reyes can use his speed to get on and manufacture a run, Melky can hit anything right now, etc. I'm excited to see what they can do.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 This should be a really good game, hopefully I get home in time.
DickeyJohnsonWang Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 rays are gona want this one bad. I'll be super impressed (again) if we can get to cobb.
letsgobjs Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Interesting lineup for the Rays, they have their weaker hitters in the middle of the order. Someone posted an article a while back about re-thinking how batters are placed, this seems similar to that.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Joe Maddon's lineup construction sucks dick

Meh, Buerhle is due to come back down to earth a bit, their lineup is pretty weak compared to the Jays though.
Bunchedundies Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Really love the lineup against LHP. That's cool but Cobb is Right handed.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Really love the lineup against LHP. With the bench we currently have, Gibby can really adjust it nicely. He can put out an absolutely lefty-murdering lineup or this very good one for righties.
Caper Verified Member Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 G-Snarls.... what did you do to my poll? Lighten up.

Come on man, not trying to piss on anyone, do you really think MB is going to finish the year with a 2.16 era? HE will regress to the mean somewhat. Nothing like an over sensitive drama queen.

I love this confidence from the fans and team these days. After 2013 hard to see what we had in the smouldering ashes left behind. But the O and D on this team is real and can play with anyone...the big question as we all know is going to be can we stay there with this rotation, and if not can we add to it? GO JAYS!! Cobb real deal but keep it rollin and win the Series TODAY!
