BTS Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I'd try and grab Nolan Jones if you still can. Dude can mash and he's stealing too. He's not going to be a .300 hitter with that K rate but Coors is going to pump his AVG a fair bit anyway. The Rockies are playing a young player? Did Moustakas and Cron both get injured or something?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Gonna be tough for Jones to sustain that .450 BABIP. Especially if the talk is true and they move him up to number 2 in the order. Teams could opener with a LHP and him, McMahon & Moose are auto-outs, and they will see so many lefty relievers. Against RHP at Coors he's a play though.

Against RHP at Coors he's a play though. The average will drop but he hits the piss out of the ball, has a good launch angle for AVG and Coors will pump his average up to acceptable levels despite a high K rate (which should come down a little). He's never been much of a stolen base threat in the minors but his sprint speed shows he's fast enough to do it effectively. There is certainly risk the Rockies start platooning him or even benching him but if Dick Monfort saw those two mammoth homers this past weekend there is a good chance he'll be in the lineup a lot.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I did two weeks ago, brah, in BBDL, BORED, and DDL. Holy s***, he was dropped in 20 team leagues???
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I'm currently third in my league and I have the potential to win it all. A player was offering Cole for younger players. I gave him an offer that seemed reasonable, but he countered and wanted Mat McClain, Nolan Jones, and Gavin Williams for him. Cole's statcast page doesn't look overly great. Would you make this move to push you over the top this year? Does Gavin Williams have ace potential?

FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 How many team league is it? 12. I have Franco and Witt Jr for SS so I've actually been sitting McClain. I also have Eury Perez, Grayson, and Baz as young pitchers that can help in the future. So I'm sort of OK in losing Williams to win this year.

It's hard enough for these prospects to pan out into viable big leaguers, it's even harder for them to become fantasy relevant in a 12 teamer. If you look at the waiver wire it's probably filled with some damn good MLB players who were once top 100 prospects as well. McLain, Jones and Gavin Williams (unlikely to become an ace) are nice prospects but in order to make you regret it they've got to hit on the high end of their projections. Cole is a stud and even if he takes a step back in the coming years (he's still only 32) he's still going to be a very good fantasy player.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 My IL slots are all full and I need to drop someone in a 14-teamer with 18 keepers. Who would you guys drop among the following? Lance McCullers Chris Sale Frankie Montas Alex Cobb Ryan Helsley Seems like Cobb and Helsley injuries are the least severe (for now) so probably keep them? That would leave my choices between Sale, Montas and McCullers. What do you guys think?
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Sale or McCullers. Probably Sale tbh because of age.

Age wise, McCullers over Sale. Though if Sale comes back this season, he might be able to help you down the stretch.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Ok I dumped Sale. Now Kirk hit the DL so thinking of dumping a pitcher or even just dumping Kirk himself. In a 14 teamer it seems like all the Catchers outside of the very top ones are grouped together. I could probably just get him back after the DL stint. I also have Gabriel Moreno and just picked up Yanier Diaz, for example.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 McCullers might be f***ed. I am protecting the meatball over Lance.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 (edited) Yeah f*** that McCullers guy I'm tired of his ******** injuries. Cutting the cord on him so I don't have to deal with him anymore. He's a permanent IL slot that's causing these perpetual problems anyway. Edited June 19, 2023 by Terminator
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 When Kirk comes back I'll dump Moreno unless he shows something in the meantime. Diaz is starting to look good for the Astros anyway.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 Think Strasburg is droppable now in a 20-team dynasty league? My IL slots are full and need to place someone else on the IL to open up a roster spot or I'll be playing a man short.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Kirilloff or Gavin Williams in dynasty?
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Kirilloff or Gavin Williams in dynasty? Williams for me…. All jokes aside, forget that it’s me, Trout or Riley Greene Dynasty?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Kirilloff or Gavin Williams in dynasty? GW... who's moving Kirilloff, DL73 or StangStag?
