I have to choose between Marco Gonzales and Forrest Whitley. My team is weak on pitching so Marco would actually be an upgrade for this year, but is there any chance Whitley can still turn into a frontline starter?

Forrest Whitley is a non-prospect in most formats. Feels like you can flip Gonzales for someone better unless it’s a 10-team league with keeper limits or something.

Ok, thanks. Yeah, like I said my pitching is s***. Hitting is great. So Marco is an upgrade on the back end of my rotation. I could probably get Whitley later in the draft anyway.

Just got an offer of Winker for Rodon. I have Kelenic, Alvarez, Carlson, and Brennan Davis for OF. Rodon is a part of my starting 7 and I don't have anyone else to replace him at the moment. Is the Winker upgrade in OF worth giving up Rodon and trying to find a starter in the draft?

Brennan won't debut until 2023, most likely. Rodon is a pitch away from being out of baseball.

I would do that deal, get a starter in the draft, as a last resort you can stream free agent starters as your 7th

Do you have to drop someone to add Winker and whoever you get as the new 7th starter?

Hey, I wouldn't have to drop anyone to get Winker. I still have Dustin May and Grayson Rodriguez to step in as my future 7th starter. I think Eovaldi will be available in the draft as well so he can help me this year, until they step in.

Would grab Winker in a heartbeat!

Yeah Winker is the better asset. I'd do it.

Far better, with far less risk. Kind of a no-brainer, I think. When a team doesn't offer up a QO that's a pretty big red flag.

If you could do an upgrade of Yoan Moncada to Bregman (with multiple pieces being added with Monaca), or an upgrade of McCullers to Aaron Nola (with multiple pieces being added with McCullers) what would you choose? This is a points league.

Thanks.

Is Paddack worth anything at this point? I have to pick him or Hancock as the drop off date is tomorrow.

Personally I'd still roll with Paddack.

1. Can help you this year

2. Decent chance he is actually good and has been running into some bad luck on homers or batted balls

3. Decent chance even if he has run problems he is one tweak away from being amazing

4. Hancock has a pretty s***** k rate in the minors as far as prospects go.

I don't remember it both are fully healthy so that is part of the decision

I'm guessing you wouldn't pick either due to the multiple pieces? I mean Bregman is an upgrade to Moncada and Nola is an upgrade to McCullers? No?

Thanks. I kept Paddack, hoping for a bounceback. Plus, this league doesn't place much value on prospects. I think Hancock could easily drop to where I can pick him up in the draft.

Yeah I just was assuming you would not get good value trading for either

Ok, thanks.

One last question for probably a while. I have Noevi Marte and have both Bogaerts and Witt Jr. for SS. I only have Gurriel Jr., who can cover 1st. Would you trade Marte for Andrew Vaughan straight up? I assume he'll transition to 1st full time when Abreau is done. Is the trade worth it? Again, this is a points league.

I'm curious as to where they'll play Witt Jr in the next couple of years. I need a 3rd base and was going to try and trade for Bregman but I heard that Witt Jr. is playing for the 3rd base job in spring. Do you think he'll get 10 games/yr going forward to keep the 3rd base eligibility?

Moncada > Bregman

I dunno. He might as a rookie but if things go to plan Witt is just playing SS everyday, forever.

How come? I see that quite differently.

Bregman was propped up by a the juiced ball and crappy stadium. I see him in the .260 20 HR range which i think is Moncadas floor. A bad time with covid set Moncada back, so now a year or so out from it he could breakout again. Lots of walks as well for Moncada

So you're just going to ignore what Bregman has done, it's superior to Moncada. Moncada has broken out by the way.
