I have the second pick of the new player draft (18 team dynasty) and both Mayer and Leiter are still available (the guy with the first pick went non-prospect). My SS depth chart is Tatis, Luciano, and Austin Martin while my SP isn't where I'd like it to be, but I'm leaning Mayer strictly as a trade asset. Thoughts?

 

Luciano is likely a 3B. Go with (1) Volpe if he is available, or (2) Mayer.

How sure are people that Roki would be the target? The top is stacked this year.  I think I would probably keep Langford, but that's a very interesting proposal.

How is it a new player draft, if a non prospect was taken? If you want to trade the pick, ask for an SP now.

Fantrax has Leiter #205. A little behind Mize, a little in front of Bassitt. I’d keep the pick for that

 

He said he wanted a SP now, bro. Any of the top 5 guys and a minor add should get him a decent MLB pitcher.

Well, I dropped a couple examples of that. Just saying I’d keep the pick instead of dealing for mediocre but good SP.

Well, I assume if he's trading said pick/player, he already has a couple cornerstone players. And the SP wouldn't be mediocre,lol.

The players who weren't rostered at the end of the season are also available to select. This new guy selected Bobby Bradley because he needed a 1B.

I didn’t know FG had them. I’ll have to check it out. Anyways, I don’t think any of the picks this year would land a great mlb player.

I’ve found Fantrax sufficient. Look at it and tell me why it sucks as Jim says. Obviously nothing is perfect and lots is subjective

It's a fine starter, but not that good. I agree with Jim, it's fairly useless.

Well, you should know that’s not true as Adames is ranked higher than Rendon and I gave you WA+. Objectively speaking, Fantrax is prob right. It’s a good barometer imo on prospects. At 29 they have Kelenic right around Teo and Seager. Riley Greene is down a bit around guys he should be around etc.

 

Any list anyone is going to do will be subject to opinion. But it gives you another perspective besides your own

I am looking for a 1b upgrade. Other upgrade options have fallen through.

 

I have Cronenworth as my best viable 1B starter. I will need him for other IF positions if any injury, days off etc. A guy is offering me Jose Abreu, but he wants Flaherty, 1-1. I am pretty sure I know my answer.

 

Just thought I would hear from the peanut gallery.

I'd be patient. You can find platoonable bats there to fill the void should Cronenworth be needed elsewhere.

I have to choose between Marco Gonzales and Forrest Whitley. My team is weak on pitching so Marco would actually be an upgrade for this year, but is there any chance Whitley can still turn into a frontline starter?

Yes, but chances are slim - 10%? Probably better to keep Gonzales.
