Laika Community Moderator Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Oh, and he also offered Neolvi Marte instead of Casas. Which one? Both potential studs, can't go wrong, I'd take Marte. More dynamic and more room for error. Could be a top 10 prospect. Gabriel Moreno would go after McClanahan but above Lowe. Somewhere in there.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 I need help. I'm in a 12 team Dynasty league. Just started this year. I missed out on the current top players at the time (Soto, Tatis, Acuna, etc). So I decided to make my first pick Beiber (hope he's not going to suffer from the banning of the sticky stuff). And since I missed out on the top position players I decided to take Franco with my second pick. I was lucky enough to grab Guerrero with my third pick. The fourth was Yordan Alvarez. Then I decided to take Kelenic as the 5th and Torkelson at the 6th. They projected much better than the other positional players that were selected. I say this to let you know, this year is out for me to win since I selected so many prospects. I don't even think I will have a competitive team next year. I hope I could make the playoffs. The year after I hope to be a favorite. Just a note, this is a points league. I can only protect 20 players after this season. This my team: Untouchables: Bieber, Franco, Guerrero, Kelenic, Torkelson, CJ Abrams, Brujan, Dustin May, Clevinger, Strasburg, Yordan Alvarez, McCullers, Freddy Perlata, Moreno, Dylan Carlson, Semein Want to keep but would move: Adell, Verlander, Joey Bart, Sean Murphy The leftover: Heaney, Stripling, Nate Lowe, Hampson, Mclannahan, Corbin, Suarez Interesting prospects: Matt Manning, Max Meyer, Pearson, Emerson Hancock, Woods Richardson. Thomas So I have 16 in the wouldn't move tier, I would need to protect 4 more players. What order would you rank them. Like I said, it's a points league. Also, I DID get an offer to trade Strasburg for Grayson Rodriquez, Patino, and Marsh or Casas. Would you keep Stras or make that deal? Is there a player there that is close to a sure thing? And if you wouldn't. Is there a pitcher there you would trade Sean Murphy for? The guy doesn't have a good C. If keep your untouchables and then Meyer, Pearson, SWR, Thomas (if Alek) If you are getting Grayson, Patino, Noelvi for Strasburg id take that, then trade McCullers, Carlson, Patino, and McClanahan for a top player to keep Thats my quick opinion
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Also, I have Moreno as well. Keep him or Murphy. Final question for now. How would you rank the pitching prospects in order: Pearson, Meyer, Manning, Patino, Mclannahan, and Grayson Rodriquez. Keep Moreno
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 I would swiftly turn down a straight up Stras for Grayson offer in the league I have Grayson. It factors in that I’m on a long term re-build but even if I wasn’t, I’d still turn it down all things considered Trading Kyle Tucker+ years ago for a soon-to-be trash bin Matt Harvey has never left me

What kind of a return would that typically get? Any examples of players that would get back?

Might be tough to actually get a player good enough for all of that.
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 I'd move Stras in a NY minute for that get. Keep Murph or move him or Bart for a good SP. You drafted very well for years to come. Well done aside from taking a pitcher first. Also keep McClanahan, future TOR SP. Hey, yeah. I didn't plan on taking a pitcher with first pick. But all the top position players, at the time, were taken. The players left were players like Yelich who I thought had some red flags. And I knew that I could get Franco with the second pick...who I valued above the players left.
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Trade completed. I got Grayson Rodriguez, Patino, and Noelvi Marte for Strasburg and Hancock (had to open up a spot on my team and Hancock is the lowest P in my rankings as well).

FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 LOL, I need to get into this league Haha. They don't seem to value prospects at all, which is why I was able to get so many top ones. I even put out a feeler saying that I may be open to moving Bart after getting Moreno. Didn't get a bite. Not an offer.

That would haunt me too. Haha.
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Guerrero Franco Bieber Torkelson Kelenic Alvarez Carlson Semien Peralta May McCullers Abrams Brujan Adell McClanahan Suarez (assuming Euginio?) Murphy Pearson Meyer Manning Clevinger Lowe Strasburg Corbin Heaney Woods Richardson Alek Thomas? Bart Verlander Stripling Hancock There is my incredibly rough, one minute ranking of your players. The bolded names count up to 20. In deep keeper leagues with a specific keeper amount, you need to tailor everything to optimize your top 20 through the cutdown. Yes, you probably should trade some of these older guys if you can, but the ultimate goal needs to be consolidating multiple pieces into clear keeper upgrades. Strasburg for Grayson + Patino + Casas would be a f***ing steal and you should do it immediately, but then you still have work to do because you may not be able to fit Casas into your top 20. You should try to do your own 2-for-1 and 3-for-1 trades to push every bit of value you can into your top 20. Package Clevinger with two good prospects you don't love (say Joey Bart and Nate Pearson) for one rock solid keeper, for example. Identify the prospects you could live without and try to package them up for young core players. You could compete as soon as 2022 if you can convert some of those flimsy prospects into bankable production, because your nucleus seems very good. Just curious why you're low on Clevinger? I thought if he was healthy pitching for the Padres next year, he could do well. That said, I'm all about trading a package like Clevinger, Bart, and Pearson. What sort of player would a package like that get? I kind of weak at 3rd and OF. But would also like a more established P.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Awesome! What kind of a return would that typically get? Any examples of players that would get back? Harper or Story depending on the teams that own them maybe
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Harper or Story depending on the teams that own them maybe Looking at the rosters, I don't think that those teams would bite. What would it take to get Yelich? I'd assume they'd want Carlson back to put in the OF. What other players would be needed to pull him away? And is it worth overpaying to get him?

It's not that I don't like him, I'd just rather have the names ahead of him in a keep 20 league. Sounds like he could be a big trade chip for you, if Strasburg was that popular.

Jim is asking for a first born to be included in any Bregman deal, so I’m thinking to pivot to Yelich as he’s on the block there. Thinking of offering Vaughn and another prospect lesser than Vaughn but good (Top 50ish) I just got Bellinger in same league for Gausman and Austin Martin.
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Thanks for all the help. How about a package of Suarez, Clevinger, and one of my pitching prospects (Pearson, Meyer, Manning, or Spencer Howard) for Moncada? Too much? Not enough?

A lot will depend on what a certain team looks like and what the owner likes/doesn't
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 A lot will depend on what a certain team looks like and what the owner likes/doesn't Makes sense. Hiura is available in my league. Should I make a bid for him (it's an auction league)?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Makes sense. Hiura is available in my league. Should I make a bid for him (it's an auction league)? I really like Hiura. If you can get him cheap and wait on him to get things back on track I would
FantasyNewb Verified Member Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 I really like Hiura. If you can get him cheap and wait on him to get things back on track I would Yeah, I can move him into my U position and move Alvarez into the OF when he gets eligibility. I have $350 left for the year. And unless a big time player is dropped (which I doubt) the money doesn't mean a whole lot.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Was offered Gabriel Arias and Kevin Alcantara for Joey Votto in a 20-team dynasty league. I have Paul Goldschmidt at 1B and Stanton is occupying my DH spot. Those guys are really far away, but worth the reward down the road?

Why ask, take that and run, the Blanco has a major boner for 1B? lol

Alcantara is a legit lotto ticket.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 I am being offered Jesse Winker and Matt Olson for 2 3rd round picks. Should I take it?

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2021 Posted June 27, 2021 Depends on the format Meaning if the format is the now defunct JP Arencibia league? Since Boxcar has retired from fantasy after regularly getting his ass handed to him, his post is clearly dripping in sarcasm

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Would you guys trade Gleyber Torres for Michael Conforto in a 14 team dynasty?
