Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Ya... if anything, there better be some feathers being ruffled for a starting pitcher that doesn't involve a EE trade -.-
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Ya, its early and we still need a rotation upgrade but our O and D is ample. The Dominicans are just raking and it is soooo much more fun than this time last year so Im loving it while it lasts, and hopefully it keeps on rolling. To be where we are after the struggles of the SP and the pen meltdowns is still a shocker to me. Go Jays!
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I'm sure the A's will sweep us and we'll be right back on track in no time.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Luckily, we have the only knuckleballer in MLB right now, so it won't happen this time. Plus, our Jays are deeper than the '09 team. Man, that lineup we had was terrible outside of Lind and Hill. not any more http://www.mlive.com/tigers/index.ssf/2014/05/danny_worth_showcases_knuckleb.html
kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Lot of games at home coming up but also some tough teams . Just got to win every series. Thankfully we miss Sonny Gray but still get some hot pitchers.
Convo Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Naahh.. I don't think the A's have us this time. I think the A's are watching some tapes.. some VHS tapes of the Jays this week, and they are shivering in their kleets, bro. This is a hardcore line up. I doubt they're shivering. A's have scored more runs than the Blue Jays, not sure if you knew this. Plus they have top 3 pitching staff in the majors. We are the ones that should be shivering.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 It's the f***ing progressive liberal stuff these days that's driving people crazy. I have no idea what is offensive anymore. I just woke up the otherday to the Internet community demanding Lucic be suspended for twerking?..uhh.. tweeking? uhh. Chirping!! That's it! He was Chirping, and people want his head on a platter. Who knows how a bear with an Uzi riding a Shark affects people's emotions these days. You mean the guy who uttered death threats? Yeah that's totally a PC over-reaction. It's not like death threats are illegal or anything.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Just 30% of the season. This is good-bad news for us. Now we will see Alex trading Stroman+++ for Shark or Norris+++ for Keuchel (Fanboy ----> BTS)
Bunchedundies Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 That 09 team was never going to maintain that pace, that rotation was bad, and the lineup wasn;t that great, this team has way more depth in both areas. I am not taking this team serious until they get through this homestand and get another good starter.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 @richardjustice Everything clicking for Blue Jays. Rotation is 12-4 with 3.18 ERA in May. Only A's have a lower ERA. Tigers only other AL team with 12 wins.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) That 09 team was never going to maintain that pace, that rotation was bad, and the lineup wasn;t that great, this team has way more depth in both areas. Don't see that group as even close to this line up. Brian Tallet? Yikes! But it was a fun start. They def need another SP and they will get him. A's have been tough - good test. Now that they have the lead its all about winning 2 of 3 most of the time especially at home. They can do it. The teams confidence is building and we are seeing more smart situational hitting against good pitchers than 2013 (beat the shift twice yesterday). When fence swingers like JB and EE do that once in awhile we know they are locked in. The rotation starts to feel that too. It has a hell of a lot more fun for them. Some speed in 1 and 9 spots and the JF pop against RHP (while it lasts). The TOP 4 DOMs in this line up are going to get lots of attn. around the AL by end of season. They are going to put up monster numbers. Edited May 23, 2014 by BigCecil
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 It's exciting, but every time I get pumped the Blue Jays bash me on my kneecap like a sledge hammer. I think either the AA's sweep and were all back to being angry and bitter, or the Jays do really well and many, including me, will think with a little confidence meaningful ball in September is a very real possibility. I hope Liam throws a 5-hitter shutout. f*** the A's.
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Hendricks, Dickey, Happ against A's at home.... lol. Whelp we at least got to enjoy a taste of 1st place.
flafson Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Lets hope Hendricks can stick with decent enough numbers, otherwise we have a problem.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Well if this team really wants to make the playoffs they need to be a lot better at home. You need to be in that 50-win range at home to be taken seriously as a playoff team. They will be (Oakland series being the most worrisome spot)
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 That's how you know we're a fanbase that's suffered so long. One game up in May, in a bunched up division no less, and we're ready to pop the champagne bottle. Imagine how the Cubs fans felt being up 3-1 against the Marlins in the NLCS...

A win tonight would be huge. Not gonna be greedy though and expect a sweep. 2 of 3, and they did a great job against a powerhouse AL squad. That's the goal.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I hope Liam throws a 5-hitter shutout. If you're going to hope, why not hope for a perfect game? That's like daydreaming about winning the bronze medal at the Olympics.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 At least we don't have to face Sonny. That guy is f***ing nasty.

Key22 Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 AA should just phone the rest of the league and say "which pitcher does Bean want?" Then you know which pitcher you should be trying to acquire. Then offer a bit more. Simple. Surely there must be a decent number 4 pitcher out there someplace. Just a solid 180ip 4.5 ERA guy would pretty solid.
Convo Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Umm... did Spanky just go schizo on us last night? I have no clue what he's going on about.

Who is ready to pop the champagne bottle?
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Wait... Who is ready to pop the champagne bottle? OP for one... This shouldn't even be a thread. From ECJF's "playoffs should be easy to make" to any other post whenever this team starts looking good... Have we not learned from the jinxes of the past?

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2014 Author Posted May 23, 2014 Sure I will take one of those guys in place of Happ. But we need a front of the rotation guy. We currently don't have one and can't expect MB to continue to pitch the way he is. Hutch looks like he could be a solid 3. But we need that #1. Not likely any ace caliber pitchers being traded this year except MAYBE Lee Personally I'd settle for a #2/3 caliber guy right now
