eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 The question really is "which of our centre fielders is the ugliest"? Pillar's just weird looking, but Gose and Rasmus are ugly men. Gose strikes me as a guy who likes big white women.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Gose strikes me as a guy who likes big white women. So basically.....A typical black guy

Convo Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Expect a significant decline from Gose offensively. BABIP over .400 and only 3 XBH in over 50 PA. The one positive anomaly is the number of walks, Gose has been patient; seeing a lot of pitches. I imagine none of this is sustainable as pitchers will start throwing him more strikes and his BABIP will fall, though it looks like a .330-.340 BABIP is sustainable with his speed and new found bunting ability. I expect his line to regress to something like .260 .300 .350. Question is, should we be content with a .650 OPS from a guy with great defense, ability to swipe a bag (and more), and now what seems to be the ability to execute a good bunt? I think so.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 John Gibbons on baseball central today apparently said "Anthony Gose is a major league player" when asked what the plan was for him when Rasmus gets back.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 On mlb network they just said Rasmus is tied for least runs saved with Matt Kemp, ouch. Now he was dealing with the hammy issues but the defense obviously isn't as good as some people believed it was last year.

Im excited to think we will get a chance to really see if that's true or not. They also said that about Goins. I am really hoping Gose sticks.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Didn't he also say Marcus Stroman was staying up for good like two days before they sent him down? I think that was Pete Walker. But I see your point nonetheless.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Gose's numbers have been trending down...and his K's lately are concerning, but he is hanging in with a .350 OBP. When he came up if we thought he would have that after 32 gms and 100 PAs we would all be pretty thrilled.

Definitely worthy of a roster spot.

Wanna know how many full time CF have a .350 OBP? 8. 9 if you include Gose. And Even if he hits like this for his entire career, he'd be a 3 WAR cf on his defensive chops alone. That's way past fine for a 9 hole hitter

Spoonovic Verified Member Posted June 16, 2014 Author Posted June 16, 2014 If Lind goes to the DL, Gose should stay up. Assuming Rasmus is back, the Jays should use the DH spot to rest Melky and Jose while starting Gose in the field.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Only one game back but last night Gose showed what he can be, but isn't enough... Great catch...SB...chopped an infield single...and more.. Lets hope he can keep it up. He can be a hell of an exciting...and frustrating player. When I see the Bosox running Bradley Jr out there everyday I feel fortunate to have him.

Again, Gose should be watching video of Juan Pierre on repeat to learn how to be an effective offensive player. Slap and run.

Yup...and Otis N. chone figgins when he was on was solid at it too. I wonder if he is as fast as most think with his career SB% or if that's just bad instincts and technique.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 66 ks in 219 ABs. Great D potential and 15 of 20 on the bases. Kept his OBP over .300 but regressing. Just u-g-l-y against LHP. Guy is an enigma and I don't know if he will ever figure it out to become what we all would like over a full season. If we cant resign Melky and/or Colby (which we wont likely) he ends up as our CF 2015.
