They built it because Exhibition Stadium was a disaster, especially with flooding at a Argos game causing people to demand a dome. Do your research.

Plus, it's cold in April and September/October.

Here's the reason:

The main impetus for building an enclosed sports venue came following the Grey Cup game in November 1982, held at the outdoor Exhibition Stadium. The game was played in a driving rainstorm that left most of the crowd drenched, leading the media to call it "the Rain Bowl". As many of the seats were completely exposed to the elements, thousands watched the game from the concession section. To make a bad experience even worse, the washrooms overflowed. In attendance that day was then-Ontario Premier Bill Davis, and the poor conditions were seen by the largest TV audience ever in Canada (over 7,862,000 viewers) to that point.[13] The following day, at a rally at Toronto City Hall, tens of thousands of people who were there to see the Toronto Argonauts began to chant, "We want a dome! We want a dome!"

That's why we have Skydome/Rogers Centre.

True, but it could of been built with a bit more cosmetic appeal.

It was more rhetorical, I think we all the know the answer to that..

Anything is better then JPA, doesn't mean navarro is that great either, at least he's a decent hitter though,

When it was built, it was pretty much universally adored. The aesthetics haven't aged particularly well, but that doesn't mean they weren't appropriate for the late 80s.

I'm loving Navarro, he's never been a full time catcher until now so he'll have his problems but thank god we won't ever have to put up with JP again!

This, the stadium was like a wonder when it was finished, plus it featured the largest screen (in the world?) for quite sometime.

It was state of the art when built, most dreamed of a stadium like it! Plus it had to be multi use! Open air though nice just does not work well for the Canadian climate! Unless you wanna use it at best only 6 months a year!

Weaver has thrown numerous hanging breaking balls, only EE hit one.

Francisco needs to crush one

So this is once again the Argos fault. Its actually not cold on April, September, and October. It was cold in April this year but its usually nice. We always have great Septembers. I'm always out in short sleeves on Halloween so I don't buy the October cold nonsense. Toronto needs a baseball only stadium thats open air. Like in Minnesota.

Meh, while I like the open concept I think at least a retractable roof is a must, winters like this previous one will come around and you can't cancel half of the April games. If our stadium was like Seattle's it would be perfect.
