That's what a manager is suppose to say. His actions did not match his words. He pulled him early. It's clear he doesn't have a lot of confidence in him....release the Stro.

It's embarrassing that we actually gave him a start while Stroman gets mop-up work.

I'm actually glad stroman has come up out of the pen and got in a couple games in. I think he will be better prepared and less likely to get rocked when he gets his first start, which will hopefully be soon

If Stroman wasn't going to be starting, he should'n't have been called up. He had made 5 or so starts at AAA, they should've left him there to continue to pitch every 5th day.

Too late now of course, but even if they decided to give him a chance at starting, which I doubt is coming soon, they'd have to stretch him out again.

Hey, Norris and Robson are pitching tonight.

Please be wrong.

I'm exaggerating a bit, but tell me you don't suspect the same? Maybe 2 more starts which would mean Stroman getting "destretched" even more in 10 more days.

I understand happy has an option, and that he also has the option to refuse it, if he does, are the jays still on the hook for his salary?

Yes, minus whatever another team agrees to pay him, which would be like $1.00

That's stupid, It's such ******** that a goof like happ can still get paid after refusing an assignment. Pretty much ensures he'll be on the roster for the majority of the season as I don't rogers would want to pay him to pitch somewhere else

That's fully on AA for thinking he Happ would flourish here and giving him the contract he did, not to mention the suspects he gave up in the trade.

At this point, I would actually respect AA more if he did the right thing by admitting this was a mistake and inserting Stroman into the rotation. It really is a waste of Stroman's service time to have him in the bullpen when they have said they view him as a SP.

Ya I don't know what aa was smoking when he gave him that deal, but ideally the cba shouldn't allow a player to get paid after he refuses an assignment regardless ofhis service time

Maybe Stro is on an IP count? Anyone know? That would make sense as I'm sure AA is thinking playoffs in his own world.. So MS starting in pen so he can finish year as SP would make sense.. Unless there is no limit, in which case it's just stupid

yeah but that's a moron idea.

McGowan and Happ will take us to the last place.

That's the thing, even if Stroman is on a IP limit, which is fine, you have to give yourself the best possible chance at actually being in the race and we know Happ is not the answer. Anyway...

Idk.. I don't see Jays as a playoff team but if AA does (which I'm sure he does but he should prob be keeping up on the classifieds just in case) , I would prob do the same thing he's doing in this case. If there was always an IP limit I mean

I'd be surprised if Happ didn't get at least another 3 starts.

Me too. I think he'll have at least three more starts. Maybe we can use Kickstarter and raise funds for an assassin to take care of the issue.

I disagree. It's like waiting till the July 31st trading deadline to improve your club. In the meantime, you're decreasing the chances of even being in the race later on in the season.

Even then, you could limit Stroman's workload at AAA by taking him out early in games and giving him an extra day or 2 between starts while allowing him to continue to hone his craft and develop. Plus, they've started his service time. He wasn't even on the 40-man roster.

Ugh. Just looked at Drabek's numbers and he has 12 BB in last 15 IP. Was going to say would rather see him than Happs sorry ass

Well.. You are understanding the flip side that come time when he hits that IP limit and you have to sit him? 1) if you're in the hunt it will suck worse at that time 2) causal fans will go on the warpath..

Again, you could limit his innings at Buffalo without "destretching" (new term) him. Also, they've also started his MLB time and he wasn't even on the 40-man roster spot.

If they needed a bullpen guy, why did they send down Wagner who's a short-reliever?

At the end of the day, they're probably reluctant to admit defeat on Happ and they only place he could provide value is as a SP, so that's what they're doing even when they have a better option.

If Happ was Stroman's height, everyone would say he sucks because he's not tall enough...lol. Funny how this works, if a short pitcher struggles, it's because he's short, but if a tall pitcher stinks, he just flat out sucks.

Anyway...

One idea against Buffalo is if he's ready to face mlb hitting, he's getting his feet wet. Not saying I'm shooting down everything you suggest I'm just saying it's not some no-brainer move
