With 2 long relievers in the bullpen already (Redmond and Stroman/Happ), I feel there is no need for Esmil Rogers on this team. In a 12-3 game, he cant manage to get through Galvis, Gwynn Jr, Rollins and Revere without allowing runs which is pretty pathetic if you ask me.

He provides no long relief as he's prone to giving up runs in bunches, which also means he doesn't allow for the Jays bats to hit them back into games. His control is iffy, and his fastball gets hit. He has to rely on his slider for strikeouts and right now, that's all he's getting.

Cut ties with him, go to Wagner and allow Stroman to be the long man in the pen. No use making him a 1-inning guy out of the pen. Get him into that Carlos Villanueva role with the team before he gets to accustomed to being a 1-inning reliever.

I literally cringe when Rogers comes into the game...even in a 12-3 game.

Fine call him up and throw him on the DL. Call up Bobby Korecky, Rob Rasmussen, Ryan Tepera...someone! After Tolleson's gaffe in the OF I'd like to see Mastroianni called up for Getz soon too...the need for a 4th OF seems needed too.

I rarely message here because I try to create discussion but I get turned down by f**king idiots who'd rather look at my post count. Yeah I average 1 message every two weeks...who cares!

Punt Rogers...I don't care...its not as if I'm saying punt Alex Rios...which btw was done by a former GM of the Jays. There is no need for Rogers. I don't care if he can start games. We have at least 4 god damn starters in the BP/AAA that are better than Rogers in Redmond, Stroman, Nolin, Sanchez, Drabek, and Romero.

So is Redmond, or Happ... or Wagner/Loup for 2 IP. I don't get it..its as if I said trade Jose Bautista for Russ Adams around here...Rogers isn't that good...get used to it.

It's not that Rogers is "that good", it's that he's capable. He threw almost 140 good innings last year in the major leagues, and at $1.8 million he's a nice guy to have around in case injuries strike again. You keep guys like Rogers so you don't have to use guys like Romero, Drabek, Jenkins, and Sanchez this year in the rotation. Asset management.

eventually it would be nice to get rid of the fringe guys though and use minor league starters with options as your bullpen and starter insurance like so many orgs do.

This is why the message board will not grow beyond what already is about 50% BTS and his 5 accounts and a few teenagers that would like to make man/boy love to him.

Not everyone hangs off 300 peoples twitter accounts 18 hours of the day to know what's going on top to bottom in the org. Not many Jays fans know whose on the DL for the Buffalo Bisons.

His post did not need more then a correction.... yet he gets slammed.

Rogers has a 4.05 xFIP over 153 innings over the last two years and can start games, but we're going to punt him so Neil Wagner can have a roster spot? GREAT IDEA.

Thank you I agree with this. Rogers is actually a nice guy to have in the pen. He brings some heat and strikeout potential and can be thrown into start a game in a pinch. Honestly if we're arguing about who is the last reliever in the pen, the guy who shows the best stuff & can give some innings should be chosen everytime. Who cares about Neil Wagner if he's going to pitch very few innings. Seriously.

Man! this place really needs more intelligent posters so I can actually have something to read about the Jays for more than 10 min.

I frequent 3 forums daily and those are the RaptorsForum, CalgaryPuck, and this one. I am a huge Jays, Flames, and Raptors fan and I try to keep up with each team by reading through message boards but never post. Except for this time I feel I just had to say something after reading through this thread and seeing the garbage that people post.

CalgaryPuck is great with about 80% of the members actively and intelligently discussing info about the flames. A very informative forum for a flames fan!

RaprorsForum is about 60/40, often great discussions but a fair share of idiots.

Jays board unfortunately is about 2/3 filled with idiots who contribute nothing. Like I said I only spend about 10 min max in this board, When I go on my computer late at night after work to check out some new info on my favourite teams I always feel like after checking up on this board I got a little dumber.

I love the Jays and this board sometimes do provide great info and discussions, just not as much as I would like I guess. This will be my first and last post just wanted to vent.

I don't disagree it might be time to cut ties with Rogers. But right now hes just the mop up pitcher.

Until its an extra inning game right

Exactamundo.... need a mop-up and extra innings guy to avoid wearing down the bullpen.... its not a sprint, its a marathon

Rogers is very mediocre but he gives you innings

Meanwhile, Yan Gomes is on pace for another 3-4 WAR season and Mike Aviles has a wRC+ of 125.

Great talent evaluation there Alex.

Stop. Just stop it. You're like the nagging spouse who can't help but rub our noses in it every chance you get. We all get it, that trade sucked dirty ass. Now move on, please. Think of the children.

So you thought your first post should be this valuable piece of info? Non-contributing zero.

Great talent evaluation there Alex.

Mike Aviles started hot last year and cooled off to the tune of a .650 OPS. Yan Gomes is a nice player. We lost one there. There were a handful of people that didn't want to trade him, but the vast majority did not care. GM's make good and bad decisions.

No one mentions the delabar's or the Francisco's and AA's name in the same breath....it's always Gomes, Napoli etc. You're stretching it a bit to include Aviles in that group. His wRC+ of 125 isn't going to be anywhere near that high by year's end.
