Brenner Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 With the bullpen/starters flushing this season down the toilet its time to think about blowing this team up. We have some pieces that might be valuable to other teams. Starting Rotation: Dickey - Needs a run of good starts but might have value come deadline. Beuhrle - Value probably as high as it can get, should trade him and his big ticket asap before he comes down to earth and avoid paying most of his big contract. Morrow - No value right now, might as well keep throwing him out there and see if he can put it together. McGowan - Same as Morrow, lets see what we got here. Hutchison - Keeper Stroman and Nolin ready to step in this year. Bullpen: Santos - Has kiilled his value Janssen - If he can get healthy by the deadline should be traded for whatever Everyone else - Cheap and controllable for years so might as well keep 1b - EE - should have huge value, trade 2b - SS - Reyes - hopefully starts hitting well and can be traded at the deadline. 3b - Lawrie - Keeper LF - Cabrera - trade or resign CF - Rasmus - trade at deadline RF - Joey Bats - should have huge value, trade C - meh Bench: Lind - Get him healthy and trade Fransico - Let him play fulltime keep mashing the ball Everyone else - meh Target: positional hitting prospects that are MLB ready for close
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 As much as I prefer winning, a proper rebuild can be interesting to watch in it's own way. For me and .001% of fans.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 No, no and no. It's too tight an AL East to even considering trading anybody. Much of the division is struggling, not just the Jays.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 San Diego, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Baltimore, Texas, Seattle might be interested in our starters. I'd like to sell high on Melky if we can. If Rasmus is still sucking, I think you buy low and resign him. You don't sell low on an asset that's bound to have another upswing like Rasmus so often does. Bautista and Edwin will incite a bidding war and I think Reyes could have a good deal of trade value. Should be fun. #ZaidiforGM
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 San Diego, Pittsburgh and Cleveland, and possibly Texas and Seattle will be selling at the deadline. Money needs to be considered as well.. a lot of these teams are tapped out financially, and can't take anymore payroll.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Bautista and Edwin have multiple years left on their contracts. THey're not going anywhere unless a team(s) wants to sell their farm. Melky, maybe, as he's a free agent.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Whats the tldr version? Condensed version, trade everyone that isn't Lawrie or Hutchison.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 That sounds like too much work. Lets just sign Drew after the draft to play 2nd. And call up the Stroman and Sanchez. Profit?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Really don't think Sanchez is ready... But Stroman should be a no brainer at this point.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Really don't think Sanchez is ready... But Stroman should be a no brainer at this point. May as well screw up Sanchez... It's the Bluejay way.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 It'll eventually click for him or it won't. I thought it was competitive walks
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 No, no and no. It's too tight an AL East to even considering trading anybody. Much of the division is struggling, not just the Jays. May as well keep running with this crew until they retire or opt for free agency. Then like a typical Jays fan turn on the tears or start getting mad because they didn't do anything, when anyone with a brain could see this team is clearly not a contender on paper, has very little in the way of stud prospects on the way and is apparently at their max payroll, so can't take on any money via a trade. You sir/ma'am are brilliant.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 http://www.investing-for-the-future.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/fire-sale.jpg BLOW IT UP filler I'd prefer a re-tool of the team. Because a fire sale and the same f***ing plan of building a studly farm and then trading that studly farm for old, expensive, broken, molested players won't work a second time or 14 millionth time.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 It's the Bluejays way. Or what most of the fans want. They build this emotional relationship with the players, like they're f***ing them and going on dates, and there's no way they'll permit Alex to move them for fear of losing their imaginary friends. It's sickening.

It's sickening. How many other teams are looking to trade others players of the same caliber at the same point in their careers? Not to many Fielder/Kinsler trades happen. We'd have to trade for MLB ready prospects that are unproven, and hit on them.

For me and .001% of fans. rebuild wouldn't be bad if the jays could get baseball people in charge of the team. right now we have a f***ing self absorbed accountant and a mail room clerk. 2 idiots who dont s*** about baseball, but do a lot of pretending and embarrass baseball every time they get in front of a microphone.

Melky, maybe, as he's a free agent. Which is exactly why Bautista an Edwin are the first ones to move.... there will be plenty of suitors for those guys

What was your mood, based on the organization's moves before the Happ trade?
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) What do the "FANS" have to do with the FO, seriously? Sure, there's a shitload of casuals, but fans really have no say in what a FO or ownership decide to do. They f***ed up, but it's highly unlikely they let this regime tear it down. I think this thread is moronic, to be honest, it makes no sense. I don't want them to tear it down either. Unless you think trading a couple major pieces is "tearing it down"? I see no reason why Bautista and/or Edwin couldn't be moved to contenders for very, very good prospects or young players each. Or are you content with Bautista & Edwin playing out their 30's with us and getting nothing in return? Edited May 3, 2014 by GeorgiaPeach
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I would imagine any trade for youth at this point in the season would have to see they jays include money as well. Just not sure how many teams can just add 10 to 30 mil mid season. Is there a major league rule as to the max amount of money that can be given in any one deal?

I believe MLB looks at every transaction involving cash.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Take Bautista for example. I know people hate moving players to Division rivals. But why should Alex be gunshy about making Bautista publically available and looking at the Red Sox (Betts, Jackie Bradley, Blake Swihart, Rafael Devers) Yankees (Banuelos, Gary Sanchez, Mason Williams, lower level IFA's....etc) Texas (Ronald Guzman, Brinson, Odor, Alfaro) Dodgers (Joc Pederson, Zach Lee, Urias, Seager). You trade short term pain, for long term gain. If the Jays wanna remain a short term try, down years type team, they're going to continue to alienate building a solid fanbase.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Trade Buehrle, Rasmus and Reyes I'm down with the first 2, we'd likely be the same quality team if we did but with smaller payroll. But who plays short if Reyes is gone, Goins?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 Trade Buehrle, Rasmus and Reyes Definitely down with the first two, but not Reyes if the plan is then two guys who can't hit in the MIF If you get young good MIF back in the deal, then fine
