BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Denorfia is good at baseball. Kawasaki and Francisco are not. SD thus wouldn't trade Denorfia for Kawasaki and/or Francisco. Your proposal was awful. Yet both are better then what they are running out there right now !
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Chris Denorfia's too old. AA likes his veterins! He cost more too, so for two money tight teams it does not effect either much! Rogers even can cover two mill or we are in bigger trouble here! And he is a free agent after this year,so not a long term move.

Or do you not see them willing to move the old guy?
darthjon Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 True. When the team has zero chance of making the playoffs, entertain the crowd. It's Kawasaki's best tool, besides being one. I think he actually brings a lot more to the team than just comedic value in a losing season. His work ethic and positive attitude is a good role model for younger players, he gets the crowd into the game, and he keeps the team having fun. I think all of those things have some kind of intangible positive impact. It's certainly better than another player who hits .230 with no power and doesn't bring any of those things. Bottom line is if you don't have a solid 2B anywhere on the roster and you're just going to fill a spot with a warm body, why not let it be a guy who hustles, works hard, gets the crowd into the game, and raises the overall fun factor?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 A month into the season and we've already had Goins, Kawasaki, Tolleson, and Diaz on our 25 man roster. Can't wait until July to see what the team looks like.
darthjon Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 There was once a joke about this. The purpose was to clap and high 5, but truly torelay the call from the 3b coach and provide argument if safe at first while timing the pitcher. It's the least important coach. I coached 1B for my son's little league team. Easy gig. I became quite adept at pointing and yelling, "Go to second!"

The_DH Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 I would've thought the BP coach would be the least important. I figure he's part of the decision on who to bring in. Maybe giving an opinion on if a guy looks good in the pen.
The_DH Verified Member Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 And to think even kids from a little league team can take better instruction than Sierra. Too funny I was thinking the same thing. Our guys never seem to notice the coach except swapping gloves and pads.

When I played my coach made guys do pushups every time they made blunders. Right handed batter planting left foot towards third=pushups, ball through the legs=pushups, misreading a route to a ball=pushups, running through a stop sign=pushups. Maybe the Jays should do that. Sierra would be jacked.
