RA Dickey Excuse Thread

But Wait!! Where's Spanky to call everyone idiots for hating on the guy? Cos I called this idiot out day 1(now given it was day ONE), and got called every name in the book and told that I didn't know what the f*** I was talking about.

 

Where are you Spanky? Are all the detractors here in this thread idiots for hating on a guy who implodes even against the WORST of teams? In games, like this one and the last one in Houston, that could've AND SHOULD'VE continued winning streaks that allowed his team both momentum and confidence. He shows up and gets hammered. He wins these last 2 starts and this team is 10-5 instead of 8-7. BIG difference. Play .500 against the good teams and smash the trashy ones and you end up fighting for a playoff spot at the end.

 

Dickey doesn't even give this team that chance. Same thing last year, in big games, when we needed him most, he completely implodes. Walking like 4 or 5 f***ing guys again?

IMO, it's devasting to get crushed by those teams in the situation. If we are 15 games over .500 and rolling along, you gotta expect that you're gonna get your ass handed to you. But there are those games where a win to set up a sweep, or to complete a sweep, and your so called ace comes up lame back to back like that and you get your ass beat?

 

So to me, depending on the situation, getting your ass handed to you by a team you should beat, in certain situations is pretty devastating when you're trying to gain momentum and bury the teams you need to bury in order to establish yourselves as a team moving in the right direction. Losses like that can be momentum killers, especially when you look back and say that you should have easily won 2 out of 3 or swept instead of potentially losing the series against an inferior team.

 

Just my thoughts anyways...

f***ing brutal. Zero confidence in this guy. You can't be a contending team with this guy leading your rotation. It could be the 6th inning and he's throwing a no hitter, and I would be nervous waiting for him to implode and give up five. f***ing joke.

True, it was brutal. However from what I saw before falling asleep the Jays bats were pathetic also. They had opportunities but did not make the most of them. Also there were a few defensive miscues which didn't help the situation either.

Don't have numbers for today's start, but so far it's been command issues and not movement. His zone contact % is the best of his career so far, indicating movement is good, but his zone% and oswing% are both down. He'll find the command and be fine I think.

For the last time, that was in the NL, they're aren't two auto outs hitting eighth and ninth in the AL. Combine this with the new league wide approach of cutting down on your swing and think "up the middle", spells the end of the road for one Mr. R. A. Dickey.

Depends on what you would look at, I'd look at RA9 for Dickey, and xFIP for everyone else. Guy with most WAR isn't necessarily the best pitcher. HR/FB luck plays a huge role and it is just luck really. Even more so than BABIP.

Last year Harvey was the best pitcher in the league for me and should have won the Cy Young.

 

Yes. 178.1 IP is still a very respectable amount and he amassed way more value per inning than anyone else except, like, Anibal. Took Waino, Scherzer and Kersh way longer to amass more value.
