G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Are they really not allowed to use Gose in game 1?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Are they really not allowed to use Gose in game 1? Nope. Seems like they should have just made a roster move to flat out add Gose and used Jenkins or somebody as the 26th man for the 2nd game.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 What an ugly looking lineup. Fortunately the team on the other side is Minnesota, or else there would be very little confidence in taking this game. Let's hope Rasmus doesn't pull something running up the first base line a la Reyes.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 If Rasmus is not healthy enough to play in the OF then he shouldn't be running the bases
Caper Verified Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Lmao @ Kawasaki 2nd. I like Gibby, but this is some Dusty Baker s***. I have no problem with that. He can get on base as good as almost anyone in that lineup.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Are 26th men only allowed to DH? I still dont understand why Gose is DHing. Whoever is DHing in the first game should just do it again later on tonight

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Doesn't it just mean gose will be added for the DH, as in double header?

He doesn't get on base as well as Bautista does. When Reyes first went down, Gibbons just moved everybody else down a spot which was the right way to handle it. I don't know why he didn't just keep doing that instead of trying to find this elusive number 2 hitter.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 Lind DL and Reyes up (DHing) very soon
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 Gose unavailable for game 1. Rules are rules. Gose hit and 2 SB. DFA Sierra
flafson Verified Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 So what's today's roster move to cut the roster to 25. It has to be a Sierra DFA, right? We've now given this clown 91 games and 298 PA to play below replacement-level. Gose can actually help this team and should be up. Only if you assume that he improved from last year.

Yeah, I don't really understand the point of having a 4th outfielder who can't really play the outfield. Even if Gose were just as lost at the plate as Sierra, he's far more valuable in that he can play good defense anywhere in the outfield if need be and create havoc on the base paths as a pinch runner. It seems pretty obvious to me.

walkoff93 Verified Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Gose needs to play every day to improve. The reason he was effective yesterday is because he has been working on being more selective, at the plate, in Buffalo. As much as he is needed here, in the long run, for the good of the team it's better that he get regular playing time. This team needs veteran bench players.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Agreed I'd rather have Gose than Sierra. Games vs lefties let Melky DH and gose in the OF. You can replace Gose with Melky in the late innings if were winning, or use him as a pinch runner. He is a useful player to have and could probably see quite a bit of playing time.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 At this point Gose would get more playing time as a 4th of then he would getting games cancelled everyother day in Buffalo.
