Yeah, those two playoff tiebreaker rules should be reversed. It wouldn't have mattered though, because we didn't meet in the regular season with the shortened year anyhow. It was a good match. I've had a couple years where I've been on the other side of it.

I’ve actually always thought regular season record was the better tiebreaker than H2H. I know Yahoo made it convention to have H2H as the first tie-break, but I like that regular season record rewards season-long success.

This is my thinking. 1st overall team that dominated all season is away on vacation over the winter for a week and loses to the eventual 8th overall team that just squeaks into the playoffs thanks to some streaming that week. They tie in the 1st round. No way the 8th should advance and the 1st is booted, because of that one unfortunate week in December.

Seeding is based on record I believe.

 

Edit: Except for the division winner gets a top seed. We have 2 divisions, so one would be 1st the other 2nd.

I'm fine with it either way for this year since there was confusion (I wasn't sure either, so was holding onto a few), but how it's handled going forward should be decided on after the season and put in the rules.

Analysis

Jarry replaced the injured DeSmith at the start of the third period with the Flyers trailing 4-2 and gave up a pair of power-play goals by Sidney Crosby and Jason Zucker in the first 8:24 of the frame. Jarry was already the likely starter for Tuesday's rematch with the Flyers, and Jarry's injury all but assures it.
