G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 We used to have a MILB wrap up daily on the old message board I don't know why this should be any different. Fair enough. Daily MiLB wrap-ups there will be. I was off base with that one.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 People Voting NO should be giving their reasons like JFaS did.... Because I got a suspicion its the Kalfus Fodder
Chappy Community Moderator Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Scrap it. It gets such little traffic and really serves no purpose. We can just keep a thread in the main forum for it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 I think the Kalfus people are mobilizing and just shut down the board for 3 minutes to get our attendion I'm a little scared
mitchf Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 No. It's stupid that it was isolated in the first place, it's actually lessened my interest in following them.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 admin callsign OK, I've checked it out again. The following user accounts seem to be the issue. Can you check it out? All similar login names, posting styles and same shtick. They occasionally post in the other minor league threads, but almost exclusively in the kalfus thread, and NEVER in the main forum. mlbprospects switchhitter topprospects baseball4life bluejaysfan
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 King and North probably have 3 each. King and I are just as mystified as you guys. The thread left our custody a few months ago. We still post in it a couple times a week, but it's their thread now.
vdartanian Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 No. Can we ban the Kalfus idiots though? I voted to keep it. I like the prospect section but unfortunately I don't either bother going there anymore because of all the Kalfus crap. I would go in more if I didn't have to sift through the BS. But in lieu I'd be in favor of including on the main board, but if it turns into a Kalfus love fest I'm going to lose my s***!
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I think it's better to keep it. There aren't too many prospects that people care about, and the addition of all those threads/day updates from king will make the main forum extra crowded. I don't post in that side forum but I do read it often. With a good jays draft coming up, and the huge possibility of a rebuild in the near future, it will become much more relevant.

I would argue that if we brought the draft thread out here that it would generate much more more buzz and discussion.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I would argue that if we brought the draft thread out here that it would generate much more more buzz and discussion. That is also true. Well played.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 The message board gods don't like the idea of deleting the sub-forum
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I want it to stay. I don't think it will be a good idea to clutter the main forum with minor league talk. Maybe if we can make it a subfolder within the 'Toronto Blue Jays Forum' folder and sticky it it will generate more traffic. But personally, I don't like the idea of cluttering the Majors board with Minor league-based talk, I think they should be separated for organisation sake
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 No. Can we ban the Kalfus idiots though? I really don't even understand why this whole thing even exists.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I don't think there will be any clutter! I don't think people realize that only 3 threads will be moved over of any use or discussion. I've been trying to get the prospects/minor leagues thread to be stickied, so that would make the clutter even less. #1) The prospects/minor leagues thread #2) July 2nd IFA thread #3) 2014 MLB Draft thread If the first one is stickied, it won't be a problem. #2 won't really generate that much discussion until June or July, so it will likely sift into the archives until it's ready to be brought out again. And the #3 thread is a pretty active thread, but 1 thread isn't much of a clutter anyway. I suppose you could say the daily recaps thread will "clutter" but I don't think they will. They'll just fall to the bottom after each day like fatcows GDTs. Oh I thought there was more threads! s*** then count me in if it's MiLB GDTs + 3 other threads
fireballW Verified Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I used to love reading the milb daily posts, but now I can hardly be bothered to go click into the subforum. Already threads last on the first page of our main forum for a long time. It's really kind of dull. Getting some minor league posts would be interesting, not just for regulars but for any new fans checking out the site.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Change my vote to no, I've heard all I need to hear
fireballW Verified Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Really don't understand some people's obsession with eliminating "clutter". There is such a low number of new threads on this site as it is. Do people feel like the GDT clutter the board? They disappear after a day. It really doesn't take long to sift through the titles and decide what posts you want to read. It certainly takes less time then to go to another subforum. The MiLB threads were always a big part of the board. Now most people don't even bother with them because it isn't convenient.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 Oh I thought there was more threads! s*** then count me in if it's MiLB GDTs + 3 other threads When you go to the sub forum it looks like a lot of threads, but only because It's mostly daily reports and they're not getting bumped off the first page at the rate they would here.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Why the hell would we get rid of it? It's organized and a legitimate topic matter and a good deal of non-Kalfus f***ers visit it. It's definitely kept my interest in prospects going. I would hate to see it closed.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I like the idea of eliminating the sub-forum but I don't like the idea of stickying up the main thread. If there's something new, we'll just see it near the top anyways but if there's nothing new, it will just push the threads with actual updates further down the page and that's annoying. The stickies take up more than enough room as it is IMO.

The same discussions will still happen. We would have an active prospects/minor leagues thread, an active draft thread, and daily minor league reports all out in the main forum.

It's definitely kept my interest in prospects going. I would hate to see it closed. Umm people would still have the same discussions, only more people would participate. Like what used to happen on the old forum. Really by the end of my time there the MiLB threads were the only ones that were worthwhile. GDTs will disappear in a day and the generic prospects forum will stick around the top. It will of course be much better.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Speaking for myself, I think the prospect threads should be on the main forum. I never venture to the prospect sub-forum, but I would definitely engage in conversation if the threads were on the main forum.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 The Prospects/Minor league subforum doesn't get a lot of traffic, and some feel the threads there would get more participation if they were brought in to the main forum. Should we keep it separate or not? Move it all here. I think it will help the overall traffic of the site. People love getting updates about prospects. Especially since on this site you often get guys watching the video and going to games. It's a shame for that to be hidden a bit. Joe Blow comes here and see's a complete and thorough analys of Dwight Smith's swing, strikeout rate, line drive rate, and complete psychological analsyis and that's the kind of stuff that keeps them coming back.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I can understand not wanting the Kalfus thread on the main forum since it would always be at the top despite most people not caring, but what's with everyone's hatred for the Whoppers? They're just a group of polite, non-confrontational posters who are passionate about their Saviour. They never disparage or disrespect any other posters in any way. They come in peace. Stop the genocide.

I think the mods are gearing towards getting some more casuals interested in the site. I know the hard cores will check the subforums. But a lot of people just take a quick scan of the thread topics... then on to the next shiny object on the internet. I really think if they see some interesting threads about the young guys it will keep them coming back. The thread titles are basically a microfeed showing what's going in the blue jays world today... the more interesting and diverse the thread titles the more people will come.

Stop the genocide. The old board used to have threads that were basically just there for blatant non-negative homerism and it's good for the board to have those "safe places". The Kalfus thread is a bit of a special case but if it's sincere, no one should have a problem with it. I think the issue though is that a lot of us thought it was some sort of put-on by King, or by both you and King, using multiple accounts. In fact, wasn't there an IP report that suggested as much?
beachbum Verified Member Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 King, I need my Milb fix! Please post them somewhere I would vote to move to main forum for more discussion.
