BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I just watched the game on MLB.TV - wow, I'm not sure I've even seen Morrow dominate like that the first 3-4 innings. That slider was Santos filthy. And, he hit 98 mph many, many times. Maybe he will be solid this year. Great outing...truly inspiring. I'm not sure who posted it, but I will second the Navarro love. The guy can hit, plays hard, is fun in that Kawasaki way, and I get the impression the pitchers really like him. What's he making, $4M? Good deal.

I guess you never seen that 17k game against the rays, he was absolutely brilliant
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I forgot about Izturis. I hated him before this season, and wanted him DFAed. But he's playing well. Hitting VERY well, and made a nifty play tonight in the INF. I guess I'll put away my torch and pitchfork for a while.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Funny you say that, our front office thought it was an overpay! Can you imagine all the gyros AA could have purchased with that money allocated to Navarro?
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I guess you never seen that 17k game against the rays, he was absolutely brilliant Was that 2011 when he really had some great starts? I've seen him sharp before, but today sort of stands out. But 17 K's is amazing. Was that a CG? I guess I was more excited to see 98 mph several times. Shows me his arm is just fine and he's finally thrown enough pitches to have that arm strength.

It was an August 2010 outing against the Rays. He had a no hitter intact with 2 outs in the 9th before Longoria singled (Just out of the reach of Aaron Hill). Morrow then struck out Dan Johnson for #17 on the night to end the game.
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 The Dan Johnson? The guy in our system? Also, how do you remember that stuff so well? I barely remember what I had for lunch.

Still think that should have been an error on Longoria's hit.

Yeah that Dan Johnson. Can't forget a dominant outing like that. Would have been nice to have seen him get the no hitter, but the dude was f***ing locked in right from the start.
Convo Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Yup, http://m.mlb.com/video/v10760449/ You are really missing out on a part of the Blue Jays history if you never watched this game in its entirety. One of my top favorite games outside of some of the playoff games in the early 90's.

One of my top favorite games outside of some of the playoff games in the early 90's. If we're talking about favorite Jays games, mine goes back to the days of Junior Felix and Ernie Whitt. Jays down 10 nothing going into the 7th inning in Boston. Boston removes several starters, like Mike Greenwell as the games "wrapped up". Jays mount comeback capped when Whitt ties game with Grand Slam, JAYS WIN later in game!!!
VegaBond Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 The astros were defeated by the astroturf.

It's hard to forget such a memorable game. I can actually remember the exact location I was at the time, even though I could only check ESPN and Gameday. To further add, Morrow had plenty of starts where he was K'ing guys with 99 heat, for example: http://m.mlb.com/video/v7847249/torcle-morrow-fans-nine-in-5-13-frames/?c_id=mlb about 20 seconds in, back to back 99 K's.

One of my best memories I have with him funny enough.

I can tell you it was August 8th 2010 to be exact because it was my 18th birthday and I was at my first baseball game ever that day in Seattle, only to find my brother text me at the game saying Morrow might get a no hitter, I didn't believe it of course and continued to watch an admittedly sub-mediocre Mariners and Royals play. Good to see Ichiro though, guess I can tell my kids that.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Great stolen base last night. Ken Huckaby's inside-the-park was a good moment too, especially the last 90 feet. He said that third to home felt like he was running in water.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Only AL East Team Above .500.... Just saying lol. Personally I would have like to have saved Dickey for the Baltimore Series but this makes sense to put him in between Morrow and McGowen.

Shows you just how talented Morrow is. Blowing people away with 99 cheese, and then in the 17K start nearly all of them were on nasty breaking balls. Can beat you in many ways, when he is on.

Obviously he was gassed in the 6th last night as he was leaving everything up and that was only at 75 pitches. I know its early in the year and he may not have the endurance yet but just an observation.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
