TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Missed the game...but I have to say I'm disappointed I didn't get home to see a "CAN MACIER IZTURIS STICK" thread
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Another errorless game. We all know they need Rasmus and Lawrie to get it going offensively, but playing well defensively will help the pitchers. Well it wasn't COMPLETELY error-free. Bautista got picked off. Defense is stellar though.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Ee with 3 walks. Heck of a sign right there.
admin Site Manager Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Melky definitely hitting the juice for a new contract. Already surpassed his HR total from last year already lol. Just like Bonifacio surpassed his hit total from last year.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Anyone else thinking Lawrie may never develop? He doesn't seem to be able to think at the plate what the pitcher is trying to do to him. Also don't know why he swings down at the ball. I wonder if Seattle would ever move Seager for Lawrie+Sierra+BP arm

Not worried about Lawrie he actually looks great at the plate IMO. Rasmus will always be a pull happy streaky hitter, so he's prone to long cold streaks.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Define looking great. come on... really? great means swinging at pitches he cant reach and taking strike 3 right down the heart of the plate. I thought everyone knew that?

reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Define looking great. The results aren't there. In general I think his approach has been improved. Yeah he's had trouble hitting the ball with any authority, but I don't think that's a cause for concern. Looking great is definitely a bit of a stretch for me to say, but I'm trying to defend the guy. He has looked good despite his poor results so far IMO.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I think he's had like 6 balls out of the infield He stance looks a lot better, and he seems more patient like when he first came up. I think if he stays healthy he'll be a big part of the Jays offence.

When your taking fastballs down the middle for strike 3 that means your sitting on the offspeed and don't have a good 2 strike approach. It also seems early in the count when he should be looking fastball hes always either fouling it back or really late on it.
Convo Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Sad news. Attendance is way down. Lowest attended game last season: 15,684 Today's game: 13,123 That's like Tampa Bay territory...

HASHTAGYOLOSWAG Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 It was a week day game in april. The weather has been s*****. Most people would rather watch the game on TV over heading downtown on a cold day where it was overcast and rainy. Nobody should be concerned by this. Also the Astros factor kicks in.

Love JP and Boni gone, Melky no longer a liability, Lawrie and Rasmus good as always, all the 2B we have can play D, and even the 1B guys have been adding some spectacular plays.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 He's Canadian, have you ever taken a slap shot? Yeah but I thiink I heard in an interview he didn't play hockey growing up, his only excuse is if he was chopping down trees in bc
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Griffin thinks Dickey is selfish, is not a good leader, and that Gibbons' manipulation of the starting rotation is a bad idea. I wonder if Seattle would ever move Seager for Lawrie+Sierra+BP arm Lawire looks terrible, taking meat balls down the middle, taking weak bad swings at pitches out of the zone, he has never impressed me since being up, except his D, he does not have a good swing.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Lind better dresser and hitter than Rasmus (Though Lind's suite doesn't appear all that well fitted)

I still think he looks dangerous in the box, the two strike approach will improve. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that it's really clear to me he has the skills to be a great hitter, even if he's not locked in yet. Talk to me at the end of May when he's hitting line drives from foul line to foul line.

I don't think he has a good approach....his bat control is pretty good and he's made some good mechanical changes this spring....he's struck out 6 times and 4 have been looking....he's thinking way to much out there instead of seeing the ball and hitting the ball...it's like he's made up his mind whether to swing prior to the ball leaving the pitchers hand..
