The_DH Verified Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Right now. Trying to explain how great he was but was limited. Somehow Ubaldo was not worth the price but Buerle was for 19 mill plus prospects.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 f*** that shot of his fat ass walking away made me laugh hysterically. Actually it's not as much of a PR piece as I thought. They played the Boras interview where he talked about their not going over 5 years is like starting always with 2 strikes. My TV reeks of alcohol every time Beest speaks
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 Thar scene reminded me of the Penguin from Batman. What a corporate blowjob that was. The truth is simply that AA built a last place team. He traded his assets away and didnt understand valuation. Nobody said they had to have the policies they do.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I'm really confused by the thread title.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I'm really confused by the thread title. Rogers show on - blowing AA Better?
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Yeah I know we're only 7 games in, and "It's only April", but this team looks no different than last year. Sadly, a .500ish season might be enough to save the jobs of Beeston and AA. I honestly would rather watch them tank the rest of the way, than cocktease the fanbase by hanging in there until August, and inevitably falling 10+ out of the WC and division. This is why we've seen the sustained medicority since 1993. We've had completely awful seasons mixed in, but mostly seasons filled with just enough positives and injuries for poor leadership to hold on to their jobs. 2 abysmal seasons in a row might be enough for this team to finally clean house. Again sadly, that's all we can root for this year.

I dunno if it's the stress that's getting to him but he's put on 50+ pounds since getting the job a few years ago. Get this man into a squat rack.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Did you hear the not-well-covered up anger he has at Ervin Santana??
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 At least AA says semi smart things Beeston just sounds like a senile/drunk old buffoon. He was almost incomprehensible at times.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Also, as much as I thought it would be a fluff piece on AA, it really wasn't. They showed the good and the bad. and raised all kinds of questions about his decisions.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I like when Beest said something about reading bad things about himself online gets to AA. I wonder if he has ever read a fat joke
The_DH Verified Member Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 You Canadians are very liberal with what you allow on TV. Are they just discussing techniques, or are they showing it happen? I'm surprised AA agreed to be filmed, if the latter. Then you should have seen the reach around by JPR.

I think the younger people on this board don't realize how easily a buffoon could become president of the Blue Jays. Everybody thinks that Beeston "built" the 1992/1993 teams. But Beeston got the pres job in 89. How long does it take one to dramatically effect the course of a franchise?? About 4 or 5 years. The World Series wins happened because of Pat Gillick and Peter Hardy and the talent base that was allready there. 94-2014 is a reflection of Beeston, AA, Godfrey, JP. Ash.

Ash - didn't trade the farm system.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I'm really confused by the thread title. you and me both.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 you and me both. DH and Hurl being silly with thread title After that Saturday game, Sportsnet showed a 30 minute documentary on Alex Anthopoulos. Called "Focus" I think. If you were watching on TV Saturday you'd understand what this thread was referring to. If you weren't you'd have no idea.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 If they show it online it's worth watching. Reasons Tells you real story of what happened with Santana Fat ass walking away shot of AA from behind Beeston complete clown comments to fuel our justifiable hate of the pompous ass
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 If they show it online it's worth watching. Reasons Fat ass walking away shot of AA from behind Someone has to get me a gif of that. I'm no where near tech savvy enough for that
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) FTR: King willing to do a screen cap and GIF conversion of AA's fat ass Don't know what that says about him but thanks man. Taking one for the team. LOL Edited April 7, 2014 by G-Snarls
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Promo here but don't see the whole video anywhere http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/alex-anthopoulos-in-focus-promo/
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Yeah, I couldn't find it either, I guess they plan on airing it again. Next airing they should omit the Beeston quotes. It's embarrassing to the organization. "He's only 36 years old!!". "2013 was probably the best learning experience of his life!!"
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 There were some JP Ricciardi clips that I liked a lot
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I thought there was a show on this already..... My big fat greek GM
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 3 seasons... they've finished no closer than 22 games back of first the previous 2 years. You're right. I mainly meant if they had 2 consecutive awful years with a high payroll.

AA - didn't get the male pattern baldness gene. Ash - didn't trade the farm system. Is it ironic I saw this comment while browsing Michael Young's fangraphs page?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Is it posted online yet? It is now! http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/alex-anthopoulos-state-of-the-franchise/
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Is it ironic I saw this comment while browsing Michael Young's fangraphs page? He did get burnt on Loiza/Young. But managed to make moves, even exciting moves without giving up what were regarded a "a" prospects. Got David Cone coming off a Cy Young for b-prospects (with Delgado, Green, Gonzales, Stewart all in the system, managed to pull off the trade without using them). Got Clemens in free-agency. Got minor pieces, Stanley, Santiago, Fletcher, for little.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Fat ass shot starts at 16:46 #PearShape
