• Casey Jannsen and Jose Reyes could start their rehab process next week, but they are still ineligible to come off the DL until April 13 and 16.
  
• Melky Cabrera, with his first-inning homer, extended his hitting streak against the Yankees to 14 games.
  
• Johnny Diaz has as many RBIs as games played this season since his callup (3 RBIs in 3 games)
  
• Toronto is 5/35 (.143) with runners in scoring position through the first five games
  

 

Yankees:

• Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter enters play on Thursday with 3,318 career hits, good for ninth place on baseball's all-time list. He needs one hit to tie Paul Molitor (3,319) for eighth place on the all-time list, and fourth place on the American League all-time hits list.
  
• First baseman Mark Teixeira left Friday's game in the bottom of the second after he strained his right hamstring trying to make a play on a ball hit down the line. Kelly Johnson took over at first base of the remainder of last night and he's expected to log more time there as long as Teixeira is out of the lineup.
  
• Ichiro is on fire as he had three hits last night making him is 5/9 with four runs scored in two games.

blocking ability, throwing ability, game calling, hitting ability. How is it that goins can't be on this team because he can't hit...but d'arnaud is wonderful despite the fact that he has not been able to hit....once he shows the ability to hit at the major league level we can talk....right now he looks like a Snider clone to me....4A PCL product of optimism....
