jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Rays attendance tonight was a whopping 9,571. Is this Tampa or a early 2000s Expos game during Loria's tenure? Pathetic for a winning team.. Yankees may not be as hard as Tampa. New York struggles even against bad teams like Houston, even though they're winning tonight (so far, but only 3-2.) Hey, at least we're splitting vs. Tampa.. considering the nightmares we've had here, that's not so bad.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I'd guess this is poor sportsmanship on the part of Maddon because of the delay in challenging the play.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 MLB has done an awful job implementing this rule, jesus could have been worse, could have been health.gov

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 That was a good series of baseball. Thoughts: - Great starts from Hutchison and Buehrle. Bad starts from Dickey and Morrow. - The lineup just doesn't look very deep with Reyes out. - I never want to see Jeffress pitch for this team again. - What is the team's plan for Sierra? What's his role? He got into one game as the RH DH, but that's a role that Kratz/Navarro can fill depending on who's starting. At least he didn't get any defensive innings. Probably to be used mostly as a DH and spell Bautista in RF to give him days as a DH. But oh man, watching him play the outfield is gonna be lulzworthy.
jayswin11 Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 We need to take at least 2 of 3 from the Yankees or the season is over.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Not even close. It's only April! And the Yanks, despite winning in Houston tonight, are really struggling to score, to the point career minor-leaguer Yongervis Solarte is in the lineup.. but he has 3 hits and an RBI. But the Yankees should be blowing out Houston.. why aren't they?

flafson Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I really think they put Jeffress there so he could fail and they will sneak him through waivers.

I liked seeing the improved defense at 2B, LF, C, SS, 3B. Morrow wasn't bad, he was just okay. Fans tend to be pretty polar in their opinions. I also don't think a series can be good when you allow nearly twice as many runs as you scored.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I wouldn't be surprised. Especially when they're using Jeffress in mop-up duty. As soon as Janssen returns, Jeffress likely gets outrighted to Buffalo.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Mostly inflated by two blowout games sandwiched by two strong pitching performances. Of course, this is a typical Rays team.. they always swarm at you with their plate discipline, high walk totals and timely hitting, to go with their strong pitching. We should be lucky to have gone 2-2. For the Rays though, they'd better be a little more consistent vs. Texas. Strangely enough, I wonder if Gibbons is trying to burn out Rogers and Jeffress so they can get outrighted to Buffalo.. they were used twice in this series.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Welp looks like I didnt miss much, but I was expecting a 2-2 split going in. We should win the next two series at home though, or at least thats what im hoping for
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Of course, even if the Yanks pitch well, their bats have been awful to start the year, striking out a ton and not driving in a lot of runs. Considering the lack of offense in Houston, there's no idea how this series goes. Tanaka is still a wild card, as this will be his first MLB start. Pineda hasn't pitched a game since 2011 or 2012, and Sabathia is basically a meatball thrower now with his high-80s fastballs.

bronson44 Verified Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I like the Rays at least as much as I like the Jays, so a split with 4 pretty well-played games is pretty much a perfect outcome, lol. Who would you root for in a 1 game wildcard play-in?

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Can't expect better than 2-2 when your offense scores 11 runs in 4 games. I started watching the game after Morrow gave up the 4 runs so to me he looked ok. I think he should be better as he pitches more. Remember, he missed most of last season, let's hope he stays healthy. Way too early to draw any conclusions.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Who would you root for in a 1 game wildcard play-in? If Alex Cobb is starting, it's a no brainer lol.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 That ******* may have cost me 1-2 cats in our DDL matchup. lol. This matchup has been surprisingly close, although I expect you to pull away with a couple of more offensive cats over the weekend.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Looked like I was going to walk away with it, but your offense hasn't quit. Especially Brad Miller. I'm nervous heading into the weekend. He is THE s***! One of the best players I drafted in all my drafts this year
