Welcome (although you have been lurking :P) to the board!! And yup that's being called as the 'Kevin Seitzer Effect' everyone's taking each at bat one pitch at a time now and they seem to know what they are looking for. They're also starting to spray the ball a lot more early on than before

As sad as it sounds, tomorrow is the most meaningful game for this franchise in 2 years. A win and a big game from Morrow would be HUGE. AA would be the happiest man on earth.

How bout Macier. Nice to see him contribute right out of the gate.

If he can get back to at least average that would be fun

Totally. Our production has been spread out nicely. Gives time for EE & Lawrie to get out of their slumps.

Ya im not sure why there were people panicking like that. Did they not watch him at all last year???

And if you didn't, look at his BA against and K/9 for the season.

I think some people remember a few shaky outings from Santos' initial return and then didn't watch much the last 6 weeks of the season. He was pretty much unhittable in September.

Pretty decent first few games for the Jays. Approach at the plate and D looks like a 180 from the past couple years. MB killing it.

Let's hope the past two games are a nice omen of things to come. Would love to leave Tampa and head into a series with the reeling Yanks with a 3-1 record.

The Jays have 19 winless series at Tropicana Field.

I thought it was funny at the end of the game when they interviewed Buehrle and asked him about what he did today. He was like, the catcher deals with the pitching coach and the scouting report, i don't usually get involved with that.

There will be a lot of negativity around team eventually... until then, enjoy the small victories and slow your roll.

Morrow to begin is Cy Young bid tonight.

Whenever we say that he usually breaks down. Ill just be happy with a W, however ugly it may be.

He threw 25 innings last year!

The stuff is undeniable but the control is definitely not on the level of a Janssen. He nibbles too much. That slider is just filthy. Throw it consistently for strikes and you've got a gem.

And he threw 0 innings yesterday. 25 > 0.

I can agree to that, especially since the hit was a play Lawrie makes 9/10 times

Doesn't matter if Lawrie makes the play, as much as I loved Buehrle last night, that hit was on him. Anytime you give a guy the opportunity to hit a line drive, that's on the pitcher, not the fielders. That's why there's such a thing as BABIP. Lawrie was hard on himself for that play, and it makes complete sense that he was, but he didn't tell the guy to hit the ball that hard.

Buehrle was at 108 pitches, with Zobrist on base and Longoria coming up. Yes Gibbons could have trusted him to leave him in, and I wish that he had, but from a strictly managerial perspective, you couldn't really have managed that inning better than Gibbons did last night. People rage when managers don't make the emotional decision, and then people rage twice as hard everytime they do. If Longoria beat Buerhle, people would have been spazzing about how Gibbons left him in too long and shouldn't have given him the 9th inning to begin with. Pick what the hell you guys want. If you want an emotional manager, then stop sucking off analytical ones like Maddon.

Hogwash, when a fielder has a chance to make a play they should, the ball was not even hit that hard, zobrist was jammed, laurie just missed it. No big deal the jays won and buerhle was great,

Love seeing tampa pitchers at 100 pitches in the 5th inning. Get em out early and get chances against the pen throughout the year.

Great approaches at the plate, Moore and Cobb actually looked good at times and were pinpointing a lot of pitches, but our guys were not swinging at anything close and worked some walks. Dat vetrin aproach

Maybe Buehrle realized he has to earn the $18M salary he's making this year?

Last night

0,5 WAR x 6.5 Millions = 3.25 Millions

Bautista's no Bonifacio...

Jesus christ... just looked up Bonds and he had a .609 OBP in 2004. WTF

Bonds won the Batting Title that year with only 373 AB lol. Craziness.

He really was that f'n good. No one wanted pitch to him, he got walked all the time, and still managed to find 45 pitches to hit over the OF fence.
