Calm down lad!

Glad to see you made it back. I think you were banned a few weeks ago?? Seems like everything went seriously uncalm for a few weeks. A bunch of new posters because of the winning streak... then as soon as they join we get a losing stretch which brings out the worst in everybody.

If you've all ready accepted that it's over then you can calm the f*** down and relax.

I went nuts when Reyes threw the ball away and ended the 9 game winning streak. I raged. Went bipolar for a while. Raged. I grieved. The last few weeks I've been suprisingly calm.

If you haven't accepted it's over then I guess your rage is still to come. Good luck. Everybody has their own breaking point.

9 game winning streak - 90% believe (I still believed, some will never believe)

Reyes throws the ball away - 80% believe (10% knew it was over then)

Jays 14 games over .500 - 85% believe (5% came back on board, 5% knew Reyes throw was to much bad Karma)

3 game sweep by Yankees - 70% believe (people starting to get the feeling things are going bad).

Lawire/Bautista injured - 55% believe...

4 game sweep by A's, lose division lead, lose EE - 30% believe (this one is a big drop off. To much happening)

back to .500 - we'll lose another 10% down to 20% believe.

6 games back - 15% believe.

Sox and Rays pass us we are in last place - 10% believe.

The 10% left at this point will always believe I guess... just like 10% will never believe.

Keep calm no matter how bad it gets.

Stay calm everyone

The knuckler is knuckling again and Reyes is partying like it's 2006!!!!

Get on board folks. This is our time. This our year. This is our team!

So we had a bad 5 weeks. It was only 5 weeks.

When George W. Bush was behind Kerry in the exit polls in 2004 did he give up? NO F'N WAY! He got his IT guys to double check the voting machines in Ohio.

Hallejuhah, Jesus tap dancing Christ, I'm so excited about this team I think I just s*** myself. I gotta calm down.

Man that win felt good.

Big contributions from two of the most desparing players on the team and a small glimpse of how strong this team would be if Dickey pitched like a real ace and Reyes hit like a real leadoff hitter and played passable defense.

This win still felt short and nothing seems to be changing going forward

Not only were there three terrible blunders by this team (I thought Thole's in Oakland would be the last in a long while but nope), but the Jays only got a hit with RISP by one player.

The only positive out of this is that Dickey pitched very well.

Things still don't look good for our club considering our injuries and the ones that are nagging (Bautista/Reyes)

That's a pretty big positive. Pretty much any contribution from players not named Bautista or Encarnacion is big at this point. You're not going to get clean play from this team even when they are at their best. That's a stupid expectation and like hitting in RISP a pretty flawed way of evaluating a team's performance anyways.

The last couple of games have been a positive for me. Just need to not lose too much ground over the next month.

Honestly think it's time to sell.

Lawrie, EE and Lind all out over a month and Jose doesn't look to be near 100%. Just not sure how we can expect to compete with a lineup full of callups and DFA signings.

Few positives

- O's lost

- Jays offence put up runs

- Stro show gives up a couple runs in 2nd after Reyes scuffs a routine grounder with 1 out & no one on

hopefully jays can win a couple vs rays & get to 50 wins & a record of 50-46 going into the break with 66 games to go...

Need to win two. Jays need to tidy up their game though, especially considering the propensity for silly s*** happening in TB.

i honestly could see AA making a trade now, and gutting the farm for nothing

I, for one, would be ok with that. You cant have it both ways. We cant win without upgrades and we cant acquire real talent in the middle of the season without using farm assets.

We have a shot this year and if Tanaka is out it just got better. (not wishing injuries on anyone).

When do we think we will have a better opp to get into post season in AL East? I get it...everyone loves to drool over the potential of our prospects...cheap, controllable and talented. But they are simply just assets and potential.

I think with the injury trouble we have now we may be too big a risk to go for it.

But if we can stop this latest skid and get back on top or very close, I know its a minority opinion but Im ok to go for it and live with the consequences.

Flags fly forever...not into being the neverwin Cubs or the Ms.

We can't. The lineup right now only slightly resembles the lineup from 6 weeks ago. You can't expect a first place team to stay in first place when it isn't even the same team.

Right now we're in the same mess we were in early 2013 - trying to compete with a lineup full of replacements. The only difference between 2014 and 2013 is that this year we've added a bunch of players other teams didn't want.

The second half of July is going to be the most important two weeks of the season IMO. Whether we stay in the race or fall 7 or 8 games behind; whether we get Lawrie and Enc back by the end of July or very early in August; whether Rasmus can break out of his funk and reclaim his everyday spot in CF; and depending on all those factors, whether AA is able to pull off a deal to take this team over the top.

It's going to be really disappointing if by August we're looking at another 20 year rebuilding period...

That's why it is so important to keep calm. If you are 20 -- chances are you'll make it to 40 no matter what. But if you are almost 40 (like me) then calmness is the only way you will live long enough to see the Jays win.

So keep calm. Calm people live longer and will see victory. Angry people will get health problems.

The problem is we've had the "whiz kid" GM and it didn't work. So the next GM will be "old skool", it will take 10 years to get through that cycle. Then in 2024 a whiz kid will be chosen again, hopefully the right whiz kid, but it will take 10 years to rebuild from there.

HINT. If you are 20 annd love baseball then work towards the 2024 Jays GM job. You may be the only one who can save us.

And for gods sake keep calm. Angry people do not live long enough to see the Jays win, and angry people can't play politics well enough to get Rogers to give them the 2024 GM job.

From I gather from those who still think the Jays have a chance, it's all about the reliance of how this division shapes up.

Baltimore is the clear winner so far and in the near future, as they do not have significant glaring injuries like the rest. The offense is good enough to compensate for the rest of the team.

Agreed. They're the favourite by default of not being completely beat up.

But they're also mediocre, and mediocrity has a way of preventing success (see: previous Blue Jay teams). We're still about a month or so away from the stretch that will ultimately decide things. The Jays will hopefully be healthy then and should be ready for a run.

Jays need a couple big moves to be a contender. Couple bandaid moves won't do it.

I don't understand how you go 3/4 the way in, and say 'okay that's about as far as we go.'

Go all in, or blow it up, what's the point on being a borderline contender.

Kawasaki playing decent as of late worries me that AA doesn't make a move for 2B. If he can keep playing like that, great, but it's still a question mark.

Second half of last year he hit .274/.348 and so far this year .286/.348.

If he can do that for us the whole year and play slightly above average defense, that would be fantastic.

could take 85-89 wins to win the division...if the jays can just keep it at least within 2-3 games of 1st place going into September, things should shape up decently...

Looks like the Jays may have missed the sell window on Rasmus which sucks because CF was one of the rare areas of relative depth from which AA could have sold this off-season. Don't get me wrong, I don't love Gose but he's not much worse than bad Rasmus and bad Rasmus is what Rasmus is this season. If through some combination of moves, you're starting Gose on opening day and not Goins, it's at worst a wash in terms of the quality of the lineup and at least you're not in a position where Rasmus leaves and you get nothing back because you cashed him in when you could. If Rasmus keeps this up this could turn into another Josh Johnson situation.

Rasmus is streaky enough to put together a .950 OPS month or more before its all over. Last year .850 overall. OR....he will end up where is he is now....sub .700 OPS 2012 Colby. Toss up

The one saving grace is that Rasmus always goes through periods where it looks practically impossible for him to get a hit. His slumps are the uggliest in baseball and hopefully that's all this is. It would help too if he weren't also having a terrible defensive season.
