Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Olerud, I'm getting a little worked up! The AL east is s*** and I feel we have one of the best offences in baseball, plus with Jansen back our pen might be half descent. If our starters could just give us six solid innings I'm starting to think we might have a shot this year..this could be the year. LETS GET EXCITED, COME ON, JOIN ME. I KNOW YOU WANT TO. YOU CAN FEEL IT TUGGING AT YOU. Sorry SAAviour... the only one here who knows the real deal is our friend Smedley... The cocaine and hoes must clear his brain somehow. I'm guilty of being an old road apple talking about s*** that happened in '88... so let me bring up 2009 http://www.baseball-reference.com/games/standings.cgi?date=2009-05-17 This link here will take you to the Jays record after 40 games in 2009. 26-14. Were you there?? If so were you calm?? You should of been. I wasn't, I thought the World Series was coming back for sure. Stay calm Even 12 games over after 40 wasn't the real deal. No matter what happens keep calm.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 CALM THE f*** DOWN! http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view4/1338544/remain-calm-all-is-well-o.gif

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Had to come back here and calm down a bit. Got a little riled up after hearing the Beest doesn't respect programmers. Beest is in control of team with 120,000,000 payroll and won't hire programmer for 1/1000th that much?? Does Beest know 100,000 is 1/1000 of the payroll?? He must he used to be an accountant. I think he is just trying to diss technical people. Anyway. He is just one guy. Wall street actually kind of respects us and will pay a few hundred thousands to make some program that makes them billions. They don't like us but are just smarter then the Beest and know a little basic math. OK. I'm starting to rant again. Go to my calm place. 82-80... 82-80... 100 programmers can't change it... at least not for 7 years.

It's cool Olerud man, don't let the bitter Asian Box Gnome get to you. He's just jealous of how calm we are.

It's cool Olerud man, don't let the bitter Asian Box Gnome get to you. He's just jealous of how calm we are. I think Boxcar is talking to CPH, who is projecting 88-74 after 2 months. I've been projecting 82-80 most of the time. I went through a phase where I projected weird things like 80.7-81.3 but people seemed to get a bit uptight about the decimal points, so in the spirit of calmness I stopped that. My projection is: 82-80. There will be high and lows as we randomly walk about the .500 mark. Everybody needs to just calm down.

I'm not projecting anything, I was following up on your projections which are essentially meaningless. My post addresses the fact that extreme negativity still exists on this forum about the Jays chances, even while they are looking every bit the role of a contender now. Someone reading this forum might decide that anything less then a complete rebuild immediately is sheer folly, or that last place is a lock for the Jays still. At some point people have to follow the team with an open mind.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Damn you olerud and your infinite wisdom! Stop bringing me back down. If we sweep Oakland I'll be in the clouds. He probably didn't follow the Jays from 1984-1993, when they ended up contending almost every year no matter how the season started. Worst season was when they were 4.5 games up on Detroit with 7 games left and didn't get first place. Young people on this forum would die for that kind of season. Or when they were playing KC in the playoffs up 3-1 in games against a team that only made the playoffs because of their very weak division. In 1991, the basic story on the Jays was they were a decent team but chokers that would never win a World Series. That label was no more relevant then today's label that they'll never make playoffs because of the last 20 years.
Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to calm down. 91 win pace, stay calm.
Ash70 Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Just enjoying the ride. For too many years to mention, the season has been more or less over, at this point. One game at a time, Sweet Blue Jays.
Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Ahhh, meaningful games in May. What a refreshing change. Calm level maintenance is becoming progressively more difficult with each win, however. Trouble's a-brewin'.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Just because I am calm doesn't mean I can't ask the difficult questions... Is R.A. Dickey even better then he was in 2012? Is Dustin McGowan the next great setup man like Duane Ward? Can Josh Thole beat John Olerud's .363? (He's at .360 right now!) If yes should we DH him so he gets enough PAs to win the batting title? Was Old Skool a.k.a CPH right about everything all along?

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 15-5 in the last 20. This team is on fire. It's awesome. Obviously won't last but keep it going as long as you can, get some distance from the division so that the next (hopefully short) slump is more manageable.

I would like to see this team get to 10 games over .500 as the first goal within the next week or two.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 All I want is meaningful games through July Today's questions Is J.A Happ the next Jamie Moyer?? Will Gose/Pillar surpass Mullinucks/Iorg as the greatest Jays platoon of all time?? Today's bold prediction There will be no meaningful games in July because the Jays will be too far ahead. I don't know if I am calm anymore.
