flafson Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/dickeys-autobiography-set-to-made-into-movie/ Toronto Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey is set to have his autobiography “Wherever I Wind Up” turned into a movie, according to Deadline.com. A Thing or Two Productions, a company headed by actors Benjamin McKenzie and Logan Marshall-Green, has made a deal to turn Dickey’s memoir into a Hollywood film. The script will be written by “Friday Night Lights” author Buzz Bissinger. The book recounts Dicky’s many hardships including the devastating story of his molestation as an eight-year old boy, his battles with depression and his professional struggles as he bounced around Major League Baseball’s minor league systems for 14 years. Can't he wait until he retires? We don't need anymore reasons not to succeed.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Maybe they can throw us a bone and have the Jays win a world series in the movie.

It could be a twisted story line where Trouble With the Curve intersects with Wherever I Wind Up. A ridiculous story of the geriatric scout, scouting the Jays to a WS title and that scout reminiscing to throwing an 8 year old boy a curve.
JJippidy Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Maybe they can throw us a bone and have the Jays win a world series in the movie. The movie will be filmed in Toronto, but for reasons concerning marketability the Jays storyline will be turned into the Yankees. Either that or the film ends with Dickey winning the Cy, then during the black out period between last scene and end credits a brief mentioning of him cashing in with a foreign based baseball team will scroll across the screen in size 10 font. Seriously though, unless the Jays do something huge the Jays storyline is s***, you can't end a motivational sports movie with a guy pitching so so on a last place team.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Kevin James is going to be casted as AA.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Max Casella is AA http://timburtoncollective.com/interviews/maxcasella/max_final.jpg He needs to put on some pounds to take the part.
TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The movie ends with D'Arnaud catching the last pitch from Syndergaard in the 2016 World Series win by the Mets.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Well I guess we have to win the world series this year to give this movie a Hollywood ending. As Dane Cook would say....."dream it, you f***in' dreamer."
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Dax Shepard to play Dickey. He needs whatever the opposite thing is to "Just For Men". Gotta get 38 year old going on 50 greying beard look down.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Anyone kind of thinking his story isn't really movie worthy? And it's kind of tacky. I like Dicky and all but the hardship stuff is kind of fluffy. Depends on how explicit they intend on making the molestation scene. s*** could be getting real just like "A Serbian Film"
deepz Verified Member Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Anyone kind of thinking his story isn't really movie worthy? Just to assure you guys, this is just an "option". Meaning that a production company pays a small amount of money to option the rights to the book. This doesn't mean it gets made, production companies option hundreds and hundreds of properties every year.
