Your extensive hate for Montreal and the Expos is comical. Lighten up

So I'm supposed to listen to Canadians suggest MLB locate teams into mediocre Canadian markets from current mediocre markets?

Now that's comical.

You really can't blame us for wanting another Canadian team in the MLB, seeing as there is only 1 right now. I don't really agree with Montreal as a location, but I think Vancouver could be good.

I just find it silly that you are generally a quiet poster, but that you surface just to take a jab at Montreal/Expos. You NEVER miss your chance to trash the city and its old team.

I hope all the people going to see these games have a great time!! it would be amazing if Montreal could get a team again!

Montreal doesn't deserve a team. I'd say Portland could probably support a team if Tampa moves (Portland Timbers games are insanely popular... and that's only MLS). Maybe San Antonio? Indianpolis?

It's not really blaming. I don't think the interest in either Vancouver or Montreal is sustainable for a MLB team.

The only thing I've ever trashed Montreal about as a city, is the stadium and its location. Everything else I did while there, hotel, restaurants & casino we're all great, so I'd be foolish to comment on something negatively that I didn't have a negative experience with.

No need to insult.

The forum is moderated well, aside from the few morons who made their way over from the old forum early on.

Austin could support a team. Lots of people (11th most in US, metro of 1.8M), no other major teams to compete with, Texans love baseball, and I believe they have a decent corporate base.

Alright, understood. My apologies for the hostility.

Why not Vancouver? From my playing experiences, BC is one of Canada's premier baseball hubs.

Isn't Florida one of America's hotbed for baseball players?

Isn't Quebec a hotbed for the NHL and hockey players?

Me and Spanky have touch downed in Montreal and are off to Dieu du Ciel. They have great craft beer there!

Sil, any interest in taking over a team that was just given up in another 30 team league?

I'm already in too many fantasy leagues this season Chris. Thanks though.

Lol wtf

Serious! The whole thing was a disaster.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympic_Stadium_(Montreal)

Construction

The stadium was originally slated to be finished in 1972, but the grand opening was cancelled due to a construction workers strike. Further delays ensued due to the stadium's unusual design. As a result, the stadium and tower remained unfinished at the opening of the 1976 Olympic Games.[7]

The roof languished in a warehouse in France until 1982. It was not until 1987, 11 years later, that both the tower and roof were completed.[8] It would be another year before the 66 tonnes, 5,500 m2 (59,000 sq ft) Kevlar roof could retract. Even then, it could not be used in winds above 40 km/h (25 mph). As it was prone to tearing during high winds, the roof was kept closed starting in 1992.

For an entire 3-4 game set at best. When is Bud Selig going to wake up?

When are you?

That's like the Ray's weekly attendance for the regular season.

Except that they run a tight budget and have a great business model. Let's forget about everything relevant and consider everything that isn't.

A business model that is only sustained by revenue sharing. Recalling the 2008 Deadspin article about the Rays finances:

http://deadspin.com/5619203/tampa-bay-rays-financial-documents//all

Look closely how much they made on revenue sharing.. sooner or later, many of the owners are going to pull the plug on the Rays if they don't see attendance rise, a new stadium, etc. Basically, it's a money pit.
