G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 closer to 2-2.5 If you presume Izturis is better than -2 this year Which he may be, but I don't know
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I don't think I can handle watching Goins play 2B while Izturis/Kawasaki butcher short. Didn't he just say like a week ago that if s*** went down Goins would move to SS??
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 If you presume Izturis is better than -2 this year Which he may be, but I don't know very reasonable to assume probably close to replacement level
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 very reasonable to assume probably close to replacement level Until this spring I hoped that he would regress/progress/whatever to replacement level. But I haven't seen a shred of anything all spring to suggest to me he will. He looks awful.

bronson44 Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Gregor Chisholm @gregorMLB 1h Reyes will undergo an MRI tomorrow. He certainly didn't sound overly positive about the entire situation. #BlueJays Gregor Chisholm @gregorMLB 1h Reyes: "Hopefully it doesn't get any worse, if it gets any worse it's going to be disappointing not just for me but for the whole team."

Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 They still have no choice but to sign Drew. They can't be serious about having Goins start all year... They just can't... Drew at least provides some back up. If they flat out refuse to sign Drew, AA is signaling that either he's a retard (very likely at this point), or doesn't care about his job here.
Nabru Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Is Drew/Boras still on the long-term deal bandwagon or is there interest in a 1 year deal? Reyes will likely be back at some point during the season (FFS that sounds awful), so would Drew be okay with moving to 2B? Seems unrealistic if you ask me, given the other issues such as Beeston/Boras...

Broas is asking the Jays to sign him, and IIRC Anthopolus mentioned something this offseason that he offered a contract to a player, and that player's agent is Scott Boras. Boras said from the get go that Drew is willing to play 2B

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 So then this should be a slam dunk signing for the Jays, one would think. Like as quick as the Braves and Santana hooked up. Should be. Boras, backed by MLB rules, got his agent a year where he can't be offered the qualifying offer. Now it's a question of does Boras accept a 1 year contract, and will the Jays pony up some cash

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Only on a long term contract he said, no? I don't think he's in a position to demand stuff like this lol
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Edit: Scratch that lol he's not been placed on the DL yet
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 LOL @ this team signing Stephen Drew.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Jayson Stark Sounds like Reyes will be placed on the DL tomorrow"
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 This entire organization is a f***ing joke. Not worried at all about Reyes' hamstring OUT AFTER FIRST f***ING AT BAT. Christ almighty whoever decided to let this guy play on the turf in Montreal should be fired immediately.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Apparently, Reyes will be placed on DL tomorrow. What a gong show AA is running, you don't mess with hamstrings.

Seems unrealistic if you ask me, given the other issues such as Beeston/Boras... The org HAS to get over the Boras thing. And accept that FA acquisitions can help the team without wrecking the farm in general. As for 2B, Boras came right out and said he would sign with the Jays AND play 2B, bit IF they made it a "long term commitment". So there's a barrier there cause right now a 1-2 year deal looks best.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Jayson Stark Sounds like Reyes will be placed on the DL tomorrow" Let me post this before someone else posts it: Are they waiting a day to see if they can snap up Drew quickly, then sign him to which the corresponding move will be Reyes heading to the DL?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 So we get at least two weeks of an Izturis-Goins middle infield. It's a good thing we didn't acquire a bench infielder. I hate this front office so f***ing much. I take back everything I said to you last night. I'm truly sorry.

They need to DL him. Let him f***ing properly recover. They should've rested him last week. It's absolutely insane that he played in Montreal. Mind blowing.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 letting him play in montreal looks so f***ing egregious right now. Gotta build the fanbase! This wreaks of Beeston. "The fans in Montreal deserve to see him"
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Letting him play in Montreal looks so f***ing egregious right now. They really have no choice but to sign Drew IMO. It would be really irresponsible if they roll with Izturis/Goins especially considering Lawrie is also an injury risk. I really don't understand it. You spend a bunch of money then all of a sudden a few million to significantly improve the team becomes not available either because of Rogers or AA's context neutral assessment of players?
