KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I'm an idiot, I do not get it ;[ The club's plan to get the most of out of Happ was to change his arm angle.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 I'm not sure where the pwnage is.... i's not like he tweeted it at the pitching coach. It's just sort a general funny slam on the whole organization for trying to make it sound like Happ might have this great breakthrough, and Wilner is such a homer for the team he gets it along with the team
bendera3 Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Oh no a pitcher who hasn't pitched much last year is struggling in his first spring game outting. EVERYBODY FREAK OUT!

I didn't find the tweet hilarious. I did however like Carlos Martinez Twitter page.

Smedley Butler Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Hopefully the scrub can keep his xFIP under 5 this season so we can get a bag of balls back for him at the deadline.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 1. Of course 2. Bummer, consider increasing sense of humour 3. We all did LOL I have a dry sense of humour and I'm very content with what I find funny. As for TOS' tweet. If it falls in line with what every other team does and says "so & so is back to normal" or "he's doing this or that, having made a change to correct something" how is what TOS tweeted funny? Its just run of the mill comments being thrown back in the face of Wilner.
KSaw Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Its funny. Happ is not a good starting pitcher and is way overpaid to be a long reliever. I can't blame the club for trying anything new to get value out of him but I can't see this ending well.

Happ could perform quite well in spring training, but there's no way this guy should be a lock for the rotation. He should have to be fighting with the other guys for the spot.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Sounds like how they were "fixing" Romero last spring.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 I thought he was a FA after this season? Faaaaaaaaaack............ I was happier in my ignorance. My bad. We're good. His 6.7M(!) for 2015 is a club option.

EVERYBODY FREAK OUT! struggling? no, he was pretty much at his norm. all hell would break lose if he was actually struggling.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Sounds like how they were "fixing" Romero last spring. Romero is car wreck and any sound minded insurance adjuster would have that wreck crushed for scrap metal and just paid off the claim. instead the jays have Earl Scheib giving it a few buckets of bondo and a new paint job. where I grew up there was a guy everyone called Ripple Roy. for 100 dollars he could make any piece of s*** car look mint for about 3 weeks until the socks covered in bondo fell out. just long enough to sell the car.

Wait till Happ pitches like crap, but wins 12 games due to crazy run support and a good bullpen and AA picks up the option
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 This thread was a huge disappointment.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 dude... some days you crack me up. Thanks. I'm all over the place, I know. This team makes me silly. I alternate from homerized superfan to raging anti-AA activist to silly sideshow all in the same day sometimes.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 My bad. We're good. His 6.7M(!) for 2015 is a club option. I'm sure AA picks up the option. He'll say "Happ has a great arm and having a pitcher like Happ around at $6.7M is good value given the market for other starters."
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 AA will promptly extend Happ based on those 12 wins. 12 wins and that mid 4 ERA! Also, his veteran presence in the rotation!
