I've said in the past I think Sierra will surprise people this year. His bat has Edwin potential.

From what I've heard he's had a good winter ball season but other than that I can't see any reason to have that kind of faith in him.

Not saying he'll reach that potential this year but I see him taking a big step forward.

Happ and Drabek looked exactly as expected. Nice outing for Redmond though.

Also, Franco at 3B is lulz.

Did the telecasts show velocity for any of the pitchers?

Seriously?!?!?!

I don't mind that. It's the follow back stuff that's pretty pathetic.

It just seems like your taking a stab in the dark to me. I don't see a rationale for the optimism.

Drabek on his outing: "I’m just upset with the command because that’s been a [career] struggle and I thought I had it figured out."

His feed must be just the most unreadable stream of Twitter diarhea. Pitty the poor lacky if he has to actually read it.

I see similarities in their approaches/swings at the plate. Edwin used to swing wildly and was still somewhat effective. But it wasn't until he shortened his swing that he became the hitter that he is today. I think Sierra's swing has been pretty long/wild the last couple years but he has shown that he has that raw power like Edwin. I think Sierra will develop into a solid power threat once he figures his swing out...just like Edwin did.

As always, I'm going to wait a few weeks before starting to really judge anyone...

But when pitchers with a history of s*** control (Drabek, Romero) or inadequate stuff (Happ) come out and look like the same old s***** pitchers right at the start of ST, it's awfully hard to let yourself think there's any chance they're going to impress the team and deserve a rotation spot by April
