fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Who else is scared that we might trade Sanchez/Stroman for a starter?

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 Trades assets for Mark Buehrle and his 3/48 salary. Can't afford 4/48 for a better pitcher via free agency. I simply can't accept this so I'm gonna just let myself presume Buerhle was a free add-on salary dump in a Josh Johnson trade. Please don't respond. Thank you.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 What's best case at this point? Somehow we swing Sanchez + Davis for Shark and sign Capuano?

There's just no defending not being able to beat that deal. Another situation where AA's valuations probably didn't come close to reality. Guaranteed Jiminez takes would take 4/52 and come to the Jays. Even if it took 4/60, while harder to swallow, it would have been defensible. Probably was offering 3/30 or some garbage

Sparda Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Probably didnt like the 4 year term, Can't say I blame him on this particular guy That's not a good excuse. You could have offered him something like 3/$42 and a team option for a fourth year with a $3 million buyout and he would have taken it.
awsomest Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I can't be the only person who get enraged with wilners stupid smug face and posts and his organizational dick sucking
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I think Stroman being the 5th starter is more likely. If AA was going to deal one or both of those guys it would have happened. There the only players teams are asking about. I hope so, man, I hope so. He's wrecked the farm enough
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 It would sting less if Jimenez was going to the NL, but not being able to top a division rival on a lowball offer is a slap in the face of the die-hards. Alex Anflopolous strikes again.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Santana was born Johan Ramon Santana, and used that name throughout his life until 2003. At that time, he decided to change his name to avoid having the same name as pitching star Johan Santana.[1] According to Ervin Santana, "I just came up with Ervin... Ervin Santana, that sounds good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ervin_Santana Well there we go! Kudos to him for helping people like me be less confused!
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 John Lott @LottOnBaseball 1m Jimenez to O’s? Harrumph. #BlueJays are knee-deep in good starters, Gibbons and Walker told Toronto media today. Well f*** guys were set! I hate this org. f***

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 The lost season..its real
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Walker said even Ricky Romero is “definitely an option.” (Although he didn’t mention him until asked.) "If I went through the entire list, obviously he’s on it. He’s a guy that could definitely step into that fifth spot."
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 If he signs for that im seriouslly switching teams untill AA and the f***ing Beest is gone..there's 30 gm jobs and a incompetent bafoon shouldnt have one

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 This is nothing short of a disaster guys. No other way to spin it really. A lot of people take their AA bashing to huge, unfair extremes (partly because it's pretty fun to).. but this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back. This is really bad.

What he failed to mention was that he's probably somewhere around #14 on that list.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 What's best case at this point? Somehow we swing Sanchez + Davis for Shark and sign Capuano? Best case (but highly unlikely) at this point would be Drew + Capuano.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 All you can really do is laugh at this point. We're going into this year with a 130-140M payroll and we have Todd Redmond and Esmil Rogers competing for rotation spots. Not 7th-man-in-the-pen spots, rotation spots.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 A lot of people take their AA bashing to huge, unfair extremes (partly because it's pretty fun to) As one of AA's biggest critics, I don't think I've been unfair or extreme at all. I've always maintained that he was at best a bottom three general manager in baseball, and I never thought for a second that he was going to do anything except make excuses this offseason. I also recognize that it's not all his fault, Beeston is just as incompetent and also deserves to be fired. AA has done nothing but prove me right ever since I hopped off his bandwagon after the useless Napoli trade.

awsomest Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Hey guys you never know right. We could be bashing the s*** out of our team and all of sudden they're f***ing good. Raptors were suppose to win 25-30 games this year. Red Sox were suppose to finish 5th last year. Honestly who the f*** knows sports is weird. My life experience as a jays fan is expect the status quo
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Gibbons and Walker should be reevaluated for those comments alone. But to bad this organization has zero balls. Only Chad Mottola gets fired. Everyone else either leaves or gets sent to a different spot. Gibbons should be fired too, but really, he should have never been brought back in the first place. What other organization would actually bring him back after how his last stint ended? He's clearly delusional if he thinks we're "knee-deep in good starters." Clean house, fire all the losers that are infesting this organization, bring in competent baseball people, blow up this mess of a team, and start over the right way. It's the only way we'll ever have a prayer of winning another World Series.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 What's best case at this point? Somehow we swing Sanchez + Davis for Shark and sign Capuano? If Jimenez really is off the board now, then we roll with what we have (or sign Drew) imo. If we're confident in the young starters, perhaps we lock up Rasmus.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 If this was 5-6 years ago (when I was a young buck), I'd probably be flipping out right now, drunk and in a caps-lock filled tirade. I'm not even surprised anymore. I think we've all pretty much learned our lesson over the past few years. Set your sights low. If they win, it's gravy. If they don't, it's to be expected. Whatever. I really cannot invest another entire summer with a team like this. I'll still watch the games but holy f*** can I ever feel the apathy settling in.
