Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Am i the only one who thinks that STROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMAN may break camp with this team if he continues his success from last year.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Am i the only one who thinks that STROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMAN may break camp with this team if he continues his success from last year. problem with him being a starter straight out of camp is that he would not be allowed to pitch 30 starts. they have to shut him down. so it might be more prudent to let him start in AAA and then come up when he is needed.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I'm honestly shocked at just how few f***s I give about this season starting. I seriously just don't care, which is a new and strange feeling for me to have this close to April. Ridiculous how obvious this coming 5th-place 80-win season is. f***, man....... I couldn't agree more. I'm in my twenties and I haven't seen the Blue Jays play one f***ing important game in my life. Every year I'm counting down the days till the season, but this year I just couldn't f***ing care less. I don't give a f*** about any other team in MLB other than Jays so every year I just stop paying attention to baseball by summer. This year I don't even know. Baseball was my life when I was younger but I've become less and less of a baseball fan every year. Thank God the Seahawks won the SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the Raptors are playing great ball too!!
The_DH Verified Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I don't get this. Innings in AAA count as innings too. We'd just see him less in the MLB. No in AAA you work on things and the batting orders are not as tough.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I don't get this. Innings in AAA count as innings too. We'd just see him less in the MLB. in AAA he doesn't have to be counted on for 6-8 innings a game. they can monitor his innings and keep him on a leash. they cant rest him like that if he comes up. he hasn't even done a full year in AAA even so his innings there would be counted closely as well. he wont make 30 starts this year no matter what.

This is IMO is the best sport in the world and i think i speak for most people on this board when i say if you can't get excited about baseball you can't be that big of fan.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 And that doesn't take a toll on his arm? Yeah he doesn't seem like a guy who would tone it down just because he's in AAA

Look, I share the pessimism of the majority of the board about the Jays right now. But come opening day I'll be watching every pitch with a big smile on my face.

They can monitor his innings up here for this first month or two. We are going with a deep bullpen (a very solid one at that). If he is one of the top 5 starters in spring training he should make the team.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Are there any overseas games this year to pre-start the regular season??
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Yeah he doesn't seem like a guy who would tone it down just because he's in AAA he wont have 30 start wherever he is.... he only threw 111 innings last year and that was the most he's ever had, he wont suddenly throw 180 never mind 200.

But come opening day I'll be watching every pitch with a big smile on my face. I know i see the team being better than last year (not a playoff team though) and i am still going to be watching 95% of the games they play not to mention any other team that is on tv when i am around. I guess you can say i am f***ing pumped.

The_DH Verified Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 And that doesn't take a toll on his arm? Not as much. s*** happens though.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 He hasn't even done a whole year in double A! (Agree with everything you said though) they can piggy back him in AA or AAA to start the season and then bring him up in May when Morrow breaks or Happ sucks moose balls. it's funny, stroman has 131 TOTAL innings in pro ball and suddenly people think he's ready to go a full season. problem is that AA isn't any smarter than some of the fans in here.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 they can piggy back him in AA or AAA to start the season and then bring him up in May when Morrow breaks or Happ sucks moose balls. Yeah I think this is the way to play it. Only reason to do otherwise is if he is head and shoulders better than everyone outside of Dickey and Buerhle. (Not intended as a height joke)
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 and who will take his spot in mid august when they have to close him down? Santana will likely still be available lol.

Only reason to do otherwise is if he is head and shoulders better than everyone outside of Dickey and Buerhle. (Not intended as a height joke) he's not getting more than 150 innings this year. if he is that good I'd prefer there be innings left in Sept and potentially Oct if this team can jackpot the slot machine.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Santana will likely still be available lol. yeah, I hear there are tickets still available on the Titanic. get in while the getting is good.

I think 160-165 or 170 tops would be the target, if they want him to be able to possibly go 200 in 2015.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 LOL at morrow calling out Wilner for tweeting about the wrap on his leg. Your made of glass Morrow, unfortunately this is news...now shut the f*** up and start 35 games this year, then next year u can call people out. Sick of this f***ing team!
SAAviour Verified Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 On a positive note, for this reason I no longer feel compelled to check Twitter for Jays transaction news 1000 times a day. You? I'm right there with you. It only took me about 5 months to give up on the off season.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Are there any overseas games this year to pre-start the regular season?? Sydney Australia, Dodgers vs DBacks March 23-24th
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Sydney Australia, Dodgers vs DBacks March 23-24th That's pretty cool. My brother in law lives near there. Will tell him. But it's cricket country there.
