G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 JA Happ - 6'6" 195 lbs. doesn't sound like a strong build to me. Skinny mofo is skinny
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I say Stroman earns more major league WAR this year than Happ
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I'm increasingly of the opinion that he's going to make the rotation. He's marketable, and the team needs marketable. Maybe even have him throw the home opener. I don't agree with it, because there isn't room on the 25-man without losing a useful player, but I'm kind of expecting it to happen. the only really bad thing about having Stroman up to start in April is that he most likely wont have enough innings to pitch 30 starts. he'd have to be shut down in August.... makes more sense to wait for the injury or bad performance that is surely going to come. Stroman will be distraught if he doesn't break camp with the team, but it's probably the right thing for the team and I hope this is what happens.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Anything new about Matthew Smoral? Wasn't he supposed to have a huge upside?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 "2. Morrow ... he is not an ace. 3. Dickey .... he'd be even more effective following Morrow" From that other thread.... what the s***? There's a Morrow effect????
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Are you sure? Morrow and McGowan hurt; Happ, Rogers and Redmond suck; Drabek can't throw strikes You guys need to temper your optimism. I know it's spring training and everyone is excited, but guys probably won't perform to the lofty expectations you are setting for them. You're just pumped that baseball is back. There will be ups and downs.
The_DH Verified Member Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Don't discount the concept. If you had a slop baller going then the bats would be a shade slower. That might be a slight negative compared to heat.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I say Stroman earns more major league WAR this year than Happ one thing for sure, Stroman would bring swag to the jays. dude has confidence to spare.

Christ, I bet he's in the best shape of his life to.

At this point I refuse to get sucked in. Every other team has 25 guys poised for great seasons too and guess what? Most of them won't.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Dammit I almost want to believe that means something. Need to tune it all out. Wake me up for opening day.

Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Next we'll hear Redmond looks like Greg Maddux out there. The spin machine is out in full force already.

Kaboom!!

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 LOL, FA year baby! Melky looks great. He worked out with Bautista in the offseason so I'm not surprised. The Jays need a good year out of him.
