reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/02/nationals-shopping-danny-espinosa.html A deal seems unlikely but hopefully he remains a possibility. You might even argue that he's an AA type of player to go after.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 We ask about every player in the league so
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 We ask about every player in the league so Used to. Sounds like some GM's have AA on ignore.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 It's weird that Steamer and Oliver both think he's finished. He seems like the kind of guy that is clearly a buy low candidate, so that's why 12 teams have inquired about him! I wouldn't doubt if they're asking a ton in return until it becomes sure that Rendon will be their 2B. Then maybe he'll be moved for next to nothing in midsummer when he gets very little playing time and they'll regret not dealing him earlier. That sounds likely.
TBJ12 Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Used to. Sounds like some GM's have AA on ignore. I doubt there is any truth to that rumour. It makes no sense for other GM's to avoid a possible trade partner, especially one that gave up Syndergaard and TDA for Dickey just over a year ago.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 The reason they're not giving up Espinosa is more due to LaRoche being a free agent after 2014, and Zimmerman likely moving to 1st base, with Rendon moving to his natural position at 3B.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 It's weird that Steamer and Oliver both think he's finished. Aaron Hill 2,0 or KJ 2,0?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 How is this a thread? What is the Around Baseball thread for?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 While 12 teams are talking about Espinosa (well, 11 after the Jays stop) we should trade for Franklin.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Id be shocked if they do anything at 2B.....I think they are happy with Goins.
fireballW Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Olerud363 - Personally I see no problem with more and shorter threads. But that is my preference. I like to use these things as a news feed. Scanning the thread headlines to see what is up. eastcoastjaysfan - You finally say something that I agree with. eastcoastjaysfan a couple hours later - How is this a thread? What is the Around Baseball thread for?
fireballW Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Yeah of course because IF the Mariners actually made their young 2B available no other teams would be interested either. Jays can just offer Casey and Happ and no doubt Mariners would accept and we'd have a middle IF the next 5 years (end sarcasm) Now cue the idiotic Mariners trading Franklin for s*** after AA probably tried countless attempts to over decent deals and everyone blaming AA, like for Fister when he was told outright Detroit didn't see any match.

I wonder what the asking price is. There was a lot of speculation about him right after the signing, but no real rumours (just like everything else this offseason).

There was a lot of speculation about him right after the signing, but no real rumours (just like everything else this offseason). Seattle must be expecting too much. Not much leverage when everyone knows you pretty much have to trade him. I'm pretty sure Cano wins the 2B starting job out of spring training. LOL
ErnieWhitt12 Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I know I am brand new here.., but I cannot stand the idea of going into the season with Goins starting.
Ehjays Verified Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I know I am brand new here.., but I cannot stand the idea of going into the season with Goins starting. Welcome aboard! but i think in AA's mind, Goins is the man
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Goins isn't my first option. But he is better then what we had last year.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Goins is not ideal but the way I see it we could have one of the better 1-7 offences next season with Reyes, Lawrie, Bau, EE, Gump, Lind, Melk, then you have Navaro who can get on base then have Goins in the 9 hole which is your black hole. However if his defense stays above average like he has been having him in the #9 hole should be just fine.

With Melky's tumor removed he shouldn't be nearly as bad as last year. And if Navaro can get on base and Goins can get on base even once a game I'd be delighted. Our lineup even with Goins in it isn't nearly as bad most people act.
