Why does everyone hate Moises Sierra so much? Just because he's a lousy OF, doesn't mean he could be a decent DH and platoon partner for Lind. Don't you remember he hit very similar numbers to Jeff Baker last year with decent doubles power.. and he doesn't have hernia issues, which forced Baker on the DL for a chunk of last season, and hurt his numbers in the 2nd half (.236/.325/.375)

That hernia issue with Baker is why many teams are not willing to sign him.

What about our farm system? The better teams seem to always have a player to step up into a key role. The Cardinals are a good example of using their farm system when so many players were injured or on the dl last season.

Now there's a team that drafts well. They and Boston are probably the best at it right now.

Still better than Sierra. I don't know if I'd prefer Kratz or not. Obviously Baker>Kratz at straight hitting, but Kratz can play C when he's platooning and provide great D and framing.

I don't think I like the idea of using 2 bench spots on catchers.

Kratz > Thole.

In spring, they need to find out if Dickey and Kratz (or Navarro) work together comfortably enough. If so, Thole shouldn't make the team.

Gose

Kratz

Muni/Goins/Izturis (puke)

Someone like Baker, maybe.

That's my bench.

Or, you know, they can run with 9 relievers and teach Gose how to play shortstop. They'll probably do something retarded like that and then act surprised when injuries completely crumble the 2014 foundation.

And they develop the talent they have in their system. We have talent. Our reputation is that we don't know how to develop it. I think pure hitters, like Brenden Kalfus of the 2013 draft, and others in the system will contribute and become stars in the MLB.

Yeah the Cards drafting philosophy is interesting because unlike Boston, they aren't necessarily making sexy looking picks but they seem to have a knack for knowing exactly what kind of player they can develop successfully.

Pretty sure he's suggesting a Lind/Kalfus platoon. Or that Kalfus is a platoon himself.

Maybe in 2015 as call up and compete for a starting role in 2016.

And they seem to have a knack for knowing how to develop their players to contribute in the majors. Similar to how the Patriots draft players that no one else would yet they develop them into impact players who help the team win year after year. Brenden Kalfus of the 2013 draft will have a great impact on the Blue Jays and I think that other players in our system will to.

Well said "bluejaysfan". Go Kal-El! The Kalifornia Kid will have a breakout year!

Spring Training is just a few weeks away. We can't wait for the season to start. Kal-El and some other prospects will develop into the core of the Blue Jays which will help bring us some championships! Go BKal!

Thole doesn't need to be on the team for Kratz to platoon.

vs. R

Navarro

Lind

Goins

Reyes

Lawrie

Melky

Rasmus

Bautista

EE

Kratz C

Izturis IF

Gose OF

whoever you want, Sierra/Pillar/Morel/Thole

vs. L

Kratz

EE

Izturis

Reyes

Lawrie

Cabrera

Rasmus

Bautista

Navarro

Lind

Goins

Gose

whoever you want, Sierra/Pillar/Morel/Thole

In the rare case Kratz is injured you have to move Navarro out of DH, but you still have Lind and the other two non-Goins spots to pinch hit.

This is what is probably ideal with the current roster.

Reyes, Bautista and Izutris are solid. I dont think that Cabrera will be the player that the Blue Jays hoped he would be. He used PEDs for some time and after being caught, his numbers went down and his injuries went up. I would rather Pillar and Kalfus (in the near future) manage the outfield for the Jays.

Who needs Lind? Trade him for Jameson Taillon (which I'm told is a trade the Pirates would do) and bring up the Kid! Brenden Kalfus will save the season! Us BK Whoppers can't wait.

Part of the problem with Baker is he may get opportunities where he will get more playing time and the same money. We don't know if AA has or hasn't checked in on Baker, but that could be a factor working against the jays.

Baker would be OK, I wouldn't be overly excited if they signed him but Lind definitely needs to sit vs LHP.

Remember when he first came up? He had such a great approach vs lefties, took the ball to left field lots and stayed back on their breaking balls. What happened?

"The relationship between Beeston and Boras goes back 25 years. While executive vice president of the Toronto Blue Jays, Beeston was party to Boras' first multi-millon dollar contract; for relief pitcher Bill Caudill, a former teammate of Boras."

f*** you Beeston, you created this monster?

Posted
In fairness, maybe Paxton signs if Boras isn't breaking the rules and in his ear. I'd be pretty mad if I was Beeston too, he just shouldn't have said anything about it publicly. Regardless, I think if the deal is the best fit for both sides they'll put their issues aside and get something done, they just won't look to deal with each other as a first choice. Since most Boras players are fairly highly sought, that usually means we won't be part of it. Baker may be different in that regard.

Everything I hear is that it's the other way around. Boras won't deal with the Jays until Beeston is gone. Beeston was upset over the Paxton dealings and Boras feels he purposely cost Paxton his senior year. Bush league move by a bush league executive. And Boras isn't breaking rules, every single person has an "adviser". The NCAA rules are awful and outdated and somehow some idiot saying he was negotiating with him is different that saying "advising".

Attendence would go up as the wins go up and a core group from our farm system that includes Kalfus will help get us to the playoffs.
