This whole situation reeks of premature death. I hate to be a negative Norman about this, but... yeah.

R.I.P., Ace. You will be missed.

(I really, really hope this is all just a massive mistake of identity)

Rob Ford is pretty popular outside of Toronto, I think? Ang makes jokes about him all the time. Wasn't he a huge news story in the US?

Anyway, glad this has been "debunked" and hopefully he will come back soon.

Globalization. If your Mayor/President is using crack ........... believe me .... I'll know about him!!

Allen Quatermain is somebody else. I forgot who he is but he's definitely someone on this board not name Ace. Btw, your statement above is confusing. Are you saying his name is Aceveo or Acevedos?

Lol guys, isn't ace3113 Allan Quatermain?

Allan Quatermain is the protagonist of the novel King Solomon's Mines

I really hope he's ok, but I feared this, life happens.

Well, let's still hope life is happening for Ace.

Wow, I'm not really sure what to say. I'm frankly speechless.

The first thing I should do is apologize, for making everyone worry, to paraphrase Mark Twain reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated, but your concern was real and I'm left feeling very touched by the outpouring of love.

I have to add that coming to the forum after weeks and seeing a thread about your supposed passing sent a little chill down my spine. At the same time I felt like Tom Sawyer attending his own funeral, and hearing all the things people had to say about him, but it is still pretty morbid.

Rest assured I am alive and well. I've been away for a while; first on holiday vacation with wife and family, and then just bogged down with work. I usually don't spend a lot of time on any baseball forums in the offseason, especially when there's not much to talk about, and I honestly could not have anticipated the repercussions. I've been on other forums before and people often disappear sporadically and no one really notices so this forum is truly unique and special in that sense.

Now, just for clarification my name is neither Peter Acevedo or Allan Quatermain (as many of you have deduced). Peter is the name of an old high school buddy I knew a while back (who I hope is ok now given the reports), and is in fact an alias I use to protect my own identity.

I apologize once again for all the confusion. King, I'm sorry, I got your email, but had so much stuff to do I didn't have time to respond. Hope that didn't complicate things for your league.

So in closing thank you all for your concern. I really appreciate it. I'll try to keep in touch even when I'm not actively posting, but I likely won't be posting for a while unless something significant happens or in advance of opening day. Also Ang I have been working on the South Park cartoon. It's going pretty well. I even found someone to do all the voice overs. It should be ready some time opening day-ish.

Cheers,

ACE

Ace had risen! Glad you're alive and that we didn't violate your privacy by revealing your personal info. Also, BBDL has been renamed in your memory.

I hope we all learned a valuable lesson: someone who falls off the internet baseball grid didn't necessarily die. He might just have a life.

I dont think anyone would have assumed he died if not for that strange coincidental obit Youtube video.

Quoted for the freak situation this was

I thought it was pretty obvious from the beginning that the guy that the Peter Acevedo that passed away was not the same person as the other, basically one had a flag from the Philippines and the other one was somewhere in Latin America. Anyway, glad this got cleared up.

Holy s***. Getting a PM from King that starts with "Now that Ace has been found alive" and then reading this cheered me up quite a f***ing bit. Thank god. This was the craziest thing.

Ace, you scared us. :P

The whole premise of this thread was pretty ridiculous.

This is bizarre and tragic, but it appears that our fellow poster, ace3113, may have passed away.

Never liked the guy anyway...

Well now this is awkward...Welcome back to the boards. Was I correct that you were the Sports Editor for The Varsity in 2007?

RIP Ace.

I wrote a brief eulogy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ace posted on the Blue Jays message board, showing an interest in baseball prospects. He ended up writing for the Breaking Blue blog, and then he died.
The light that burns brightly, burns half as long. But what Ace's short and pseudonymic internet life teaches us is that there is worth in living with passion, in burning the candle at both ends in order to turn more heads. In order to make an impression.
How many people infrequently post on this forum, making no lasting impression at all? How many nameless, generic individuals fade in and out of this community, putting their own real world lives ahead of what's truly important?
We all knew who Ace was. He was the prospect guy. He was the poster who wrote for the blog.
Ace became something here. It might not seem that impressive in a different context, in fact, becoming a known name on an internet message board about a baseball team might seem rather sad. But at the end of the 8 hour work day, isn't that what we all want - to actually become something? Become anything...
Ace became something here, and then he left us. He left us while he was still important. As cliche as it seems, sometimes, it can be better to burn out than to fade away...
*sniffles*
The impression that Ace left on this small, superfluous community was significant. He had an impact, albeit on nothing. If only we could all be so lucky...
RIP Ace. You will not be forgotten for like, at least a few weeks.
I wanted his spot in the BBDL so badly I was seriously hoping he would no show. And then after the misinformation was brought forth I seriously thought I willed this guys death.
The plot thickens.
Nope, graduated in 2002. I wrote a few articles for that rag but I was never an editor. I just wrote that on my fake bio for Breaking Blue since Juiced said it didn't have to be real. lol
Jesus, this escalated quickly. I can see how it would come to this though. I was on a forum years ago when a regular stopped posting, we later found out he died in a car crash. Glad you're still alive and kicking ace!
