I don't think Davies played. I think they're holding him back to make sure he's healthy for the real games.

 

Yeah, Canada's two most important players were out, Davies and Eustaqio, but both should be good to go by Belgium. Davies is a bit of a question mark, but he will arrive with the team tomorrow and be re-evaluated.

 

Japan is a legit top 30 team though who just crushed the USA last month. Nice little W to get the boys up for the WC.

Usual story for us. We have always had good players but putting them together into a good team has always been the issue. Southgate is a polarising coach but the one thing he has in his locker is a solid record in tournaments.

 

VAR proving to be a problem again. Why is the Iranian penalty given but the fouls on Maguire and Stones in the first couple of minutes not given?

Yup. Big win by Japan in the opening game.

 

Croatia and Morocco tied 0-0 which is good for Canada. Lets hope Belgium can be another team that is upset, but doubt it. If Canada loses, hope they keep it close and its only 1-0 or 2-1 at least. A tie would be huge!
