Royals sign Kendrys Morales

Royals trade Cain/prospects + Butler for Rasmus + Drabek + Sierra

Blue Jays trade Adam Lind and Steve Delabar for Gregory Polanco :P

Does anyone think this might be sour grapes over the fact that he doesn't have an extension yet?

Or even that it was made public (regardless of whether or not it was true) that he was being shopped around by AA this winter?

Southern Ontario in the winter? Who wouldn't pull out?

I don't think it's Southern Ontario that scared Colby off....last year he came to Saskatoon I believe.....When it get to minus 10 out here we all break out in cheer talking about how warm it is...lol

Didn't AA say that anyone on the 25 man roster has been talked about in trades? So...probably everyone has been told to prepare for a possible trade.

I think if the Jays are looking to improve the rotation through trade, Colby is likely their best trading chip to land a starter like Homer Bailey. I think AA would be willing to roll with Gose in CF if that meant adding a pitcher like Homer Bailey to the rotation.

Bailey's probably close to league average next year. Ehh. It's not terribly unlikely that Rasmus is better than Bailey and Gose combined next year imo.

I could see a deal with the Reds going down. AA will get Brandon Phillips and Homer Bailey, sending Colby Rasmus and some other pieces to Cincy. Book it.

^^^ This ^^^

I wonder what the other move would be that this would set up, since we'd have 3 1B/DH (unless we moved EE back to 3rd and Lawrie to second, which I hope we don't do).

I'm a big fan of Homer Bailey, and I think he'd fit well in the Jays rotation. He pitched in Cincy which is a bandbox and the NL Central is nothing to snub at, so I'm not concerned with him pitching at the Rogers Centre and in the AL East. I do agree that it will be tough for him to post up a WAR close to 4 again next season; though I'm sure AA is desperate for starting pitching and I could see him trading Rasmus (if he can't get him to agree to an extension). I'd prefer to trade Gose + for Bailey; though Cincy is in win-now mode and I'm sure they prefer Rasmus. Also, we all know how AA likes to operate in big trades (acquire multiple pieces to fill multiple holes like in the Marlins deal), so it wouldn't surprise me if AA landed both Bailey and Phillips in the same deal.

BB projections Bailey (in a vacuum): 3.79 ERA, 3.82 FIP.

I do expect regression from him, definitely. Tough to repeat his 2013 season, though I'm sure AA is just looking at his ERA and his age.

Neil Walker would be nice.

Pirates need a left handed bat. Obviously would take more then just Lind though.

Then trade Lind + KC Prospects + Goins + Nolin for Neil Walker.

o sheet

There's absolutely no way AA said to Colby be prepared for a trade. That's not his MO...he doesn't operate that way. At most if there was correspondence between AA and Colby or his agent...he would have said....we're always looking to upgrade the team and I can't guarantee you we won't trade you.

Colby has one year remaining...he's a valuable trade chip...I think it's far more likely Rasmus' dad is connecting the dots....but the reality is there's still a good chance Rasmus is with the team this year...It all depends on what would be presented to AA. I don't think he's looking to get rid of Rasmus...he's looking for starting pitching and Rasmus' name may be coming up.

the other possibility of course is Rasmus has already decided to be a free agent

this would explain both not doing the winter tour and showing up early at ST

WTF....I thought he was just hunting and going to camp early, his pops doesn't give a rats ass about leaks, lol.

Yeah...but AA does...that's why this is pure speculation by Rasmus' dad.....I don't think AA is in the business of weakening his bargaining position...so telling a player he's going to be dealt....knowing that his dad is a mouthpiece...I just don't think that's a mistake that AA would ever in a million years make...

Posted
WAT.....it's his father, who's speculating here, you or COLBY'S DAD???

Tough answer.

I'm not speculating. I'm using my brain. It's all about context of words. Would AA ever come out and say to a player like Colby.....get ready to pack your bags...we are trading you. No..never. Have you not paid attention to the jays for the past 4 years? Sure, AA got the moniker of Ninja by being so forthright and open with players...give me a break. AA might have told Colby he may be traded that they are listening to offers on him....but they are listening to offers on all players. It's just common sense.

I feel like AA is pretty forthright with his players - just not the media.

If AA honestly felt there was a good chance he might be traded i could see him letting him know.

Turns out Jays were courting Hudson, or the other way around.

@dshemie8 @BlueJaysFacts like I've stated before, Tim Hudson is a family friend and he asked Colby about Toronto. But chose San Fran ....
