Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Cubs wont be any good. Just look at Edmonton Oilers. Prospects dont mean anything. What? Are you comparing baseball to Hockey? Why?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Cubs wont be any good. Just look at Edmonton Oilers. Prospects dont mean anything. Wow, I certainly see the similarity between the Cubs and Oilers beyond "prospects." Good one. I liked the part where you compared teams from completely different sports.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Cubs wont be any good. Just look at Edmonton Oilers. Prospects dont mean anything. They're exactly the same except for the the Cubs having an excellent front office and the Oilers being run into the ground by a bunch of morons.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 We will just wait for 2018 when the Cubs still have good prospects, and are still at the bottom of NL Central. Just like the Diamondbacks and their super pitching prospects as noted above. Teams are built with veterans not rookies. rebuilding from the ground up is rarely successful unless teams can sign big name free agents.

And how did the jays do when they decided to go the "vetran" route? How did the rays and st louis do when they went with the rookie/young players route?
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The Diamondbacks suck because they changed their front office and the new front office sold all those top prospects for pennies on the dollar. One of the best ways to get undervalued players is to pick guys up from a new front office who are trying to put their own stamp on their team by gutting the system.

This was a great moment. Kawasaki's first homer, and the Davis walk-off made this a really fun game to see in person. I think this was in the middle of that crazy win streak.
