HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Could mean Kuroda will come back. I'm surprised no one here talks about him. The guy can be had on a two year deal, three max, and he's proven himself in this division. Yeah he's old, but still.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 MinorLeagueBall So basically Arizona traded Trevor Bauer for Robbie Ray and another minor leaguer Awful
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Prepare for Didi being overhyped now that he is in NY.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I don't understand this from the Diamondbacks perspective. Why not just trade Didi for Greene straight up? Wouldn't that be better value?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Prepare for Didi being overhyped now that he is in NY. Yep suddenly the Jeter comparisons seem very à-propos. Similar production to late career Jeter and probably similarly overrated.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I don't understand this from the Diamondbacks perspective. Why not just trade Didi for Greene straight up? Wouldn't that be better value? Well they are getting some unnamed infielder from Detroit as well. Probable that some old scout just doesn't like Shane Greene.

The guy can be had on a two year deal, three max, and he's proven himself in this division. Yeah he's old, but still. I've asked for him two or three off seasons in row. Every time I was told if he left New York he would go back to Japan.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Depends on the minor leaguer from DET, but they don't have much. They must have said no we don't want Greene we want Ray instead, which would be pretty dumb. Greene > Didi > Ray I doubt a prospect from Detroit is really going to change that equation.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I've asked for him two or three off seasons in row. Every time I was told if he left New York he would go back to Japan. Then I'm surprised they let Kuroda even test FA! Stupid Hideki Matsui making NY the place to be for Japanese players...
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Is Robbie Ray even a prospect anymore? He was really bad in AAA and MLB in 2014. Reminds me of our very own Robert Ray a few years ago Wonder where he is now..
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I don't understand this from the Diamondbacks perspective. Why not just trade Didi for Greene straight up? Wouldn't that be better value? Ray + Domingo Leyva >>>> Greene RP Leyva 19 years old wRC+: -A: -1 A: +65
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 While Shane Greene might be good for the Tigers.. can the Tigers system get any thinner? They've given up their #1 prospect (Devon Travis to the Blue Jays), #5(Leyba) and #7(Robbie Ray) prospects already this offseason.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 "Had heard Diamondbacks wanted Noah Syndergaard from Mets for Didi Gregorius, which just wasn't/isn't going to happen." wat
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 lmao Not seeing the humour
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Deal was bad even before this news. Laughing at the Braves. Yeah. Though it's only up to 12 months so he could still have basically a full ST
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Rays hire former Jays catcher Kevin Cash. Interesting move, but has to be better than Wakamatsu, right?
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 MinorLeagueBall So basically Arizona traded Trevor Bauer for Robbie Ray and another minor leaguer Awful I remember a few years ago when I was looking at Sickels' "Top 20 prospects for 2012" lists and I remember how much envy I felt for the Diamondbacks when he gave four of their prospects an "A" rating, something he only gives to guys he considers absolute blue chip prospects. For comparison sake, that was the highest d'Arnaud's stock ever was, and he was rated a B+. At that point in time, the Diamondbacks had Parker, Bauer, Skaggs and Bradley. What an atrocious f***ing job that front office has done to butcher such a fantastic core. Parker for Cahill, Skaggs for Trumbo, Bauer for Gregorius... jesus christ.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I remember Leyba slugged it in the DSL a few seasons again and Grant blew his load in the BBDL thread. RIP Grant.

King Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 What happened to Grant? He's still alive, dont take the rip thing serious
Frag Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 He's still alive, dont take the rip thing serious Oh good. I thought my praying mantis picture was accurate for a second!
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Good thing an 80 win team just paid big money to help convert those 30 saves...
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Good thing an 80 win team just paid big money to help convert those 30 saves... Aren't we forgetting Betances? Now the Jays(or someone else) need to steal Robertson from them.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Yankees get Andrew Miller for 4/36. And yet they won't resign Robertson..
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I think Robertson's value just plummeted. Who is going to pay up for a reliever with a draft pick attached to him? If we could get him as low as say 3 years @$20-25 million I would do it
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 And yet they won't resign Robertson.. They gain a draft pick if they don't.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 They gain a draft pick if they don't. Which they will likely blow on Scherzer, Lester or Shields..
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I don't mind them signing him. It's not like they can throw Miller at our RH monster trifecta.
